I've been having an odd problem lately that I cannot seem to solve. When trying to find answers online, I could not find a case like mine, so I'm hoping someone could answer this?
Alright, well the story is that I've recently decided to open up a server for my friends and I. I've had a world I've been building on for a long time, and knew I wanted to use it for the server. The downside though, is that the world save is nowhere to be found. I looked in my Minecraft folder, and the saves did not appear (Yet they appear in game!) I've tried unhiding the files, and they haven't appeared. In fact, the saves that showed up are old saves that I no longer even had in my game.
Afterwards, the minecraft folder became unable to be found. I've tried looking everywhere, using terminal commands and the like, yet now the folder can't be found.
My minecraft application is still on my computer and accessible. When I open it the game runs smoothly. The saves I'm trying to find appear and are able to be played without any problems. Yet the files themselves cannot be located? Has someone else had this issue, and does someone know how to fix it?

Don´t know it helps u (Maybe OSX Louncher look and work other than PC version).
If u press the "Edit Profile" Button in the Launcher there is a point "Game Directory", maybe there is a path set to u world.
Also u can try in game to go in the Option menu and there in the "Resource packs" Option.
In there is the Button "Open Recourse pack folder". If u press this button u will go inside u actual Minecraft "resourcepacks" folder and from there u only have to go one level up and u are will found u save folder Minecraft use at the moment. (And hopefully u world are there)
Not sure if this will help, but I access my minecraft folder by clicking "go" on the top bar with finder open. Then hold down the alt key and library should appear, select it. Then I go to application support where my minecraft folder can be found. I've also had problems with my minecraft folder being hidden and this method worked for me. Good luck!
