I am using jre 8 build 40 (latest 64 bit)
When I allocate more RAM (3gb out of 16) despite free RAM,this issue happens:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for 3145728KB object heap
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Using incremental CMS is deprecated and will likely be removed in a future release

You are not using 64bit Java, if you were you wouldn't get that error message.
I am using 64 bit I think
3G is legal for 64bit and illegal for 32bit. Since it's failing you are using 32bit.
