last night so I'm sure that it can't be due to out-of-date software. I downloaded Forge specifically for 1.8. Forge installed properly. But, no matter what mod I use (except for the ones that are necessary to Forge's operation), the game crashes upon launch. I get to the launcher. No problem. I click play on the launcher's Forge profile. It takes longer than usual to launch. Once it launches, there's a black screen instead of the Mojang splash.

You have to delete the META-INF folder in files. go to search then press all files then press Ctrl+h and search META. you will find it.
