So basicly, I'm trying to beta-test my modpack via MultiMC, and the game keeps lagging and saying "Can't keep up! Did the system time change, or is the server overloaded? Skipping 3704ms" or something like that in the console, and I already gave it the min allocation of 512 MB and the max of 16384 MB, along with the permagen of 512 MB, but I don't think that's enough for it. It has about 104 mods within it currently, and I'm looking for ways to speed up the game, and the loading up part. When the game loads up, it takes what feels like 7 mins to load it completely, and I'm also looking for ways to speed that up as well. Any suggetions and info on how to speed it up or anything? I hope this is in the right forum area..
EDIT: If anybody wants to help me on the lag bit (I'm more or less focused on making my modpack start up faster, it takes about 30 mins just to get to the Main Menu currently, and ingame, it's mostly fine), feel free to. Click here to download the current version.

16GB max? What kind of a monster rig are you using. If you have only 16GB RAM total that setting is probably choking your OS to death (and a small wonder the game isn't crashing outright). 4GB max should be more then enough for almost any modpack, unless you plan on setting up a large server. Never assign more then 50% of your total RAM.
Are those warning consistent or do they only show up when the game is staring? Because it's pretty normal to get some at launch.
There's no real way of shortening load times. PermGen might be a problem, but with 512MB of PermGen there's no way it can be a problem. What's your CPU and Java version?
Well, I don't have a monster Rig, I think, but I try to make it as fast as possible, and sorry about that, and I hope 4GB is enough for it to run. and the warning just shows when I'm in a world. And let me find my DxDiag..

Stuffing more RAm then nessecery might actually cause a slowdown, due to many reasons. Asigning so much RAM the OS is chocking due to alck of memory. Windows paging excess memory to the hard drive. Java garbage colleciton algorithms working less efficiently. Ect, ect.
ah, sorry, I didn't really know about that.. My current disk drive has 239 GB free out of 297 GB, and here are its specs. I seriously want to speed it up, since it takes about 10 mins just to start the entire modpack up, and even longer just to make a world..

16 GB is way too much
Set max heap size to 8 MAXIMUM. And you don't need to set the initial heap size. Adding more RAM will not help at all.
There is nothing you can do besides use a more powerful PC.

how do I set the Java Heap size max to 8, and this is the most powerful PC I got currently, since I don't have enough money for any Alienware computers or something like that.

oh. Is that a JVM argument or a pre-launch command?

It won't speed up your game, but you just should never allocate more than 8GB to modded Minecraft. For unmodded (vanilla, you should never allocate more than 1G, unless using high-resolution texture packs.

No you didn't do it right
Set maximum with the drop-down thing
I thought you said you had the maximum set to 16GB, but in the screenshot hte maximum is 4GB
I changed it after I posted it when grimallq posted, and what's 8 GB max? 8192 MB?

Just type 2*2 in a calculator and press equal repeatedly.

A protip: You want a good powerful computer? Assemble one yourself, or find a company that will make one from chosen parts. Alienware, Razer and other "gaming PC" vendors are best avoided. They are known for making overpriced and poorly balanced machines. Same goes for Dell (Alienware's parent company).
Just last week I saw one of Dell's 3000$ Laptops .... Ugh.
As for JVM Arguments, like poiihy mentioned, they differ from launcher to launcher. MultiMC handles memory with menus, the arguments are mentioned because we assume most people use the official launcher.
But RAM is not really important for Minecraft. 2GB is enough for most packs. 4GB is good for almost anything, except for a maybe a big server, Going past 8GB is pointless.
Most important for Minecraft is the CPU.
I'm no Computer Assembler expert and I don't even know how to assemble one, and they're pretty much the EA of Computers, and sadly, I think they'll stay like that unless more boycotting begins. And how do I upgrade the CPU? Buy a more powerful one?

Well, for starters you could tell us what's your CPU. It might be a pretty good one and just require a bot of Java tweaking.
And how do I find the CPU currently within my computer?

Many ways. System properties, dxdiag, BIOS readouts if you want to really play around, your PC manual/store recipt/whatever.
This is kind of a very, very basic knowledge. Especially if you want to start messing around with game optimization.
I already posted my DxDiag if you need it.

8GB total, yeah that was definitely chocking your OS. As a general rule, don't assign more RAM to Java then 50% of your total. In your case: 4GB.
A very slow i3. That's pretty bad for Minecraft. Optifine and FastCraft might help here, but probably not too much. Minecraft 1.8 might work better, again not by much.
No dedicated GPU. It's an Intel HD 4400 which is pretty good for an Intel HD (which means pretty bad overall).
And a Laptop. It pretty much screams semi-cheap Laptop, not intended for gaming.
There's no way to upgrade a Laptop, you'll need a new PC. That CPU is especially lousy.
Well, it's the best one I got, since my other one is currently broke and this is my only replacement one for the meantime. I hope I can afford a new PC soon..

Don't expect wonders from that machine, but the -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC JVM flag might help a bit - it'll offload some of the work of garbage collection from the main thread.
