I can make a folder and name it "mods" and I can download the folder for the mod, but I am not able to get Minecraft Forge or ModLoader. This is because I use a Mac X OS and Apple does not support Microsoft Windows. I can't download Microsoft Windows Either, Im not sure why. I need a link to place where I can install Minecraft Forge or ModLoader (I would prefer Minecraft Forge out of the two) or both.
you must install modloader or forge in order to run mods
still doesnt work
i have had this work before on my computer.
my friend gave me his mod pack. i was instructed to install forge. i did. then i was supposed to put mods in mods folder. i did.
but since then ive had to redo it. and now magically it doesnt work this time, even though everything is the same.
i reinstalled mincraft. completely new file. reinstalled forge sucessfully. no mods folder... made my own. minecraft doesnt recognize mods.... anyone know whats up?

Did the modpack have an automatic downloader? If not, place it in your modpack folder. The mods in the modpack shouldn't be seperate, they should be compressed in one file and placed in the modpack folder with Forge to prevent overlapping ID issues.
Oh, and what computer are you using with what Java? If it's a Macintosh with Java 7, you'll need to downgrade to Java 6.
I'm having trouble finding the mod folder too. I know where .minecraft is but still can't find the mod folder. I have a windows 8 ( I have a laptop version of it if you wanted to know) so things might be different, I have installed a minecraft forge I believe but it still won't install the mod into minecraft. Help???!?????????!?!!?!!?

Noobs...
You aren't supposed to make a mods folder.
Follow these instructions to install for 1.6.2 and above.
First, go to http://files.minecraftforge.net/
Download the RECOMMENDED version of the INSTALLER.
Run the version you want to install mods on.
Then run the installer with JAR LAUNCHER.
Click install on client or whatever it was.
Go to your launcher and change the profile to Forge.
Run minecraft.
On Macs, press command-shift-g and type in /Users/( Your Username )/Library/Application Support/minecraft
Put the mod folder into the mods folder.
The mod folder should be a .jar or a folder with .class files inside.
Check to make sure it's the mod folder and not another one.
This is everything I did....
1.Download Forge Modloader (as stated for the mod)
2. Come here figure out how to download mods correctly
3. download pixelmon
4.Create mods folder under Roaming.minecraft
5. Move Pixelmon to mods folder
6. Open Minecraft
7. Go to the "select profile area"
8. Go to Forge
9. Start Minecraft
10. FIGURE OUT THAT IT DUN WORK >.<
