It does the same thing for me, but I'm on there for maybe 30 minutes, then it disconnects me with the error. The funny thing is, it disconnects my wifi, too, so I have to go fix it. Is this normal?

(P.S. It happens for every server I go on)
Mine does the same thing. I disconnect with the error 'io.netty.handler.timeout.ReadTimeoutException', and then my wi-fi will drop, when it wouldn't do that the rest of the day on any other game or website.
Guys, this usually happens when the Minecraft server or your Internet connection is down. Check your connectivity, any LAN cables, the lights on the router, and make sure the other servers work, as to see if it is a problem with the server itself or not.
Hi. I currently work at a host and our clients have been having this issue. The fix is simple, go back to 1.6.4. After doing some research and testing it only happens on Spigot and 1.7.2 builds. It has been reported on Mojang's site and is happening to a lot of 1.7 servers.
So if i use a 1.6.4 version server It would be fine?
I host a server for me and my friends and I started getting this error about a week ago. It's been progressively getting worse and worse for me. I can't stay connected to my server for more than a minute without getting the error. The seperate computer I host the server on ends up being jumpy with it's CPU usage from anywhere between 53% and 98% constantly with or without players online. No one else but me seems to get it though. I've tried resets, restarts, recreating data, changing the world, the whole nine yards. I need a solution quick because my server was just about to expand for more players.
I have the same problem, but the funny thing is that after i get the error and go back to the server list and I hover my cursor over the number of players in the server list, it says I am online.

Ok so I managed to find a solution for myself, hopefully it works for you guys as well. I took a shot in the dark with the concept of it being a lag between data being sent of the internet and my computer receiving it; so I thought "why don't I reinstall the thing that works with media data?".
So I completely uninstalled my Adobe Flashplayer and reinstalled the latest version for my computer. Though I have been having some issues with my laptop now saying (on some browsers and video calls, only for youtube though) that I don't have flashplayer.
Anyways I went back on Minecraft and it started working like normal again! So hopefully it'll do the same for you! :3 I'm so sorry if it doesn't work by the way :/ good luck!

dude most servers are 1.7 now you cant just go back to 1.6 and then play on them
I have been getting this error as well.. Having read all the posts it does appear that when I am near alot of different blocks(es etc) I crash... But if I am out roaming in the country or mining underground I almost never crash. Am wondering if other ppl have found this as well?

I've heard a lot about that myself and I get it no matter where I am.
I've got a Single Player 1.7.2 vanilla minecraft that I opened to my family. There are four of us, Myself, wife, Son & Daughter. For me, the IO.Netty error only happens on my daughters account. We have tried two different machines for her, and on both machines she can only remain connected for a minute or so at best. Everyone else is rock solid.
This is EXTREMELY frustrating. I'm in IT. I've looked all over the internet for a solution. It is my considered opinion, based on the longevity of this issue and the lack of technical documentation on cause & resolution, that Mojang doesn't give a crap about this problem and we are all S.O.L.
i want to play on my server so bad but it keeps telling meInternal exception;io.netty.handler.timeoutexception!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what do i do????

I've been getting this error a lot recently. According to the server owner, it's a chunk error thing, but no one else experiences it except me. The feck?

I have found something that works for me... and im hoping it may help some people out there as well. I did everything on this page, and I was able to stay inMinecraft. The only problem is I have to re-set the Java priority in Task Manager everytime I go into Minecraft.. If any tech people know a fix to keep it at a high setting i'd love to hear it, for now i'm happy to just be able to play.

I was on Mo' creatures
