Don't
Use tiny PERIOD.
It increases CPU usage by a ton and increases lag, Because you have to load alot more chunks.
Ps. To the guy above I wish i could get ubuntu!
? Explain more. I can't play UNLESS it's on tiny... But it could explain as to why on my other computer it lags less on short than on tiny. Ima have to test this...
Guys, I REALLY recommened Ubuntu. I could barely run a 32x texture pack before, now I can run a 128 pack without any lag. Plus, it looks pretty sweet XD
Although it did take me 3+ hours to get Himachi working
And I'm on a laptop XD
Thaanks, you really helped me out.
That's EXACTLY what happened for me lol, and im on a netbook XD
Well i've made a topic about editing your exe to allow 2gb of rams.
Much more simple than bat files when done properly,
Simply replace your exe with it or place it wherever makes you happy.
In short, you can do the same by HEX editing Minecraft.exe, as of today, located at the address 0x0002BFA0

FINALLY! A solution to those pesky .bat problems. I'll also make my own 256 and 512 launchers now that I know how to make them, thanks :biggrin.gif:. Im to busy to do anything now though, maybe later tonight or tomorrow
It's still the official launcher, downloaded from Mojang.
The EXE was merely touched and only to allow more RAMS.
The launcher itself cannot help anyone trying to play the game without paying.
If preventing Out of memory problems is against the terms of service, i'd love to hear it.
We're also not redistributing it, you can see it as a patch.
I will however look into making a file that would modify the exe by itself, although I lack knowledge in C#
You need to read the link to the terms of use I provided, there is no ambiguity there.
You could script your app to download the .exe/.jar and then modify it if you want, but you are not allowed to do what you have done.
Tough break, but there it is.
"Do not distribute anything we've made. This includes, but not limited to, the client or the server software for the game. This also includes modified versions of anything we've made."
Well ****. Umm hopefully I can contact notch for permission and re-put those
Yeah it pisses me off :dry.gif:
I have to do a bat file to modify the exe, that kinda defeat the purpose of having the exe in the first place. I've also found a piece of c# code that should do the trick, but I'll have to test it and i'll probably have to make one for every RAM setup.
I found some freewares that replaces strings in files but they need to be installed :angry.gif:
Bleh.. and I thought I was fixing problems, not causing more!
I think they dont allow redistribution partially because their links will always be the most up-to-date download, if you or I was going to let people download our exe then they would not have the most up-to-date launcher.
And I doubt Mojang would produce such exe themselves and distribute it.
The only option for lazy people might be that batch file im working on, otherwise someone nice will have to make a simple c# app for us.
I always wanted to learn c# but never took the time >.>
[EDIT] Updated instructions on my topic, may be easier for some people to understand
[EDIT2] Alright I tried batch files, sed, fart, edlin.. They all fail to read the whole file, for some reason they dont seem to like special characters.
I dont think I can come up with any solutions.
Thanks for the guide, it's helped me go from a very bad 1 fps >.> to a playable but laggy 8-10 fps lol, its a marked improvement considering until 3 days ago my normal laptop couldn't play minecraft at all >.>'. I'm hoping for the next Optifine update to help me out further.
Nice guide, but I have to add something. Meta-INF with '-' does not check whether your minecraft is modded and blocks launching, but it's a folder that is build when exporting class files to an executable .jar file using eclipse. It's used for defining SHA1 and MD5 values for every file. In this case, it's not important.
Thanks for the clarification. Ill change it later.
hey i have a big problem whenever i want to play minecraft after the log-in it crashes very quickly and this text document is created where the .exe its placed

Q. I have a Nvidia card and everything else runs fine except Minecraft. Huh?
Since minecraft runs on java, Nvidia doesn't recognize minecraft as a game, just an everyday program. So it runs off your integrated graphics card instead.
Right click on desktop and click "Nvidia control panel"
It will literally shoot up from 2 to 200 FPS.
Thanks to BrianTheSwat here's an alternative way to get to your settings.
Here's a video on how to do so if you got confused.
