sirrockyqo: I think some of the files may be missing.
Usually there is a level.dat, a region folder with some .mcr files in it, and a DIM-1/region/ folder with a few more mcr.
Right now that zip only has the DIM-1 part. Do you have any others hiding in the save folder?

my computer crashed coz of blue screen of death.... :sad.gif: Now i cant see world in single player menu.
Hi Redi; I got yours fixed. It was... kind of a strange thing, to be honest. The act of observation fixed it O_o
I ran it through Chunkster, didn't fix it.
I opened it in MCEdit, DIDNT change or save anything... and that somehow fixed it. I actually repeated this three times to confirm it. I guess simply the act of opening the world with MCEdit causes some kind of check to occur.

My worlds getting corrupted is killing me faster than creepers do...
I have lost many worlds by the software crashing on me, despite that i'm running this on a linux OS. What's the secret in doing this? I'm quite good with computers, and if you can explain to me, il be sure to ad you as a moderator on my server.
I don't have a specific world crashed, but I have a nice city under contruction.
In the save folder the level.dat, session.lock... Is there, do you reccomend a program that can transfer those into a file (Region i can do)
Just make a zip file and throw that entire world save folder into it, and upload that zip file.

I might be able to fix the world. The crashing problem, Im not sure.
Your save should be in
C:\documents and settings\(username)\application data\.minecraft\saves\(your world thats missing name)
Just toss that entire world thats missing folder into a zip

JMerriken: It really depends on what the problem is. To fix these, I go through about 3-4 different things to make sure they're working correctly, and if that doesn't work, it's a sort of 'wing it' procedure. Part of it is MCEdit and fixing pointers, some of it is using Chunkster to repair bad chunks, and some of it is situational.
There is an 'official' recovery thread in the Beta Survival forums, however the guy who does that hasnt been on there in a while. There are some good pointers in there that might help.
Technically, most people could probably fix it on their own with a little time, but I enjoy fixing it for people so they don't have to learn how to do it. Its just not something people should learn to do just to enjoy their game. Eventually, there will likely be a 'repair' feature in future versions of minecraft.
It really depends on whats going on. Half of them I just run through chunkster, and reset the spawn point, and that fixes it. But if it doesnt, doing those two things provides me more insight into the situation.

That's correct! When you load a world in MCEdit, it does a basic consistency check on the region files (checking for overlapping chunks and chunks past the end of the file). If you want a more complete repair you can press Control-I for World Info and click the Region Repair button. If you're interested, the repair code is publically available (but you'll have to search for "def repair" yourself...)
I'm still working on a couple other projects, if I haven't gotten to yours, let me know.
