We had a working set-up a few weeks ago, with 1.6.4 and three computers all running windows 7 connected to one computer with the game opened to LAN. There were no problems.
However, one of the computers has since been switched to windows 8, and can no longer connect to the game. It seems the game, but when attempting to connect to it, it simply times out after a bit.
Minecraft is allowed through all firewalls, we have tried it with all firewalls disabled to no avail; yes, the same internet network is used; yes, it used to work when all the computers were running windows 7; there have been no other changes.
If anyone has any solutions, they would be extremely welcome.
1.Type ipconfig into command prompt
2. Find ipv4 address
3. It should be 192.168.1.____
4. Put that exactly as-is into "Direct Connect" on the 8 computer.
5. Put a colon, and then the 5 numbers that show up on the host computer where it says "LAN game opened to port ___"
6. It should look like this, but with the blanks filled in with numbers: 192.168.1.____:_____

Play!
EDIT: For example, 192.168.1.2:67525
Thanks for the reply. However, it did not work - still the time-out error.
