I'm running out of ideas here. Can you post the world to mediafire in a .zip format and link it in your next post? I want to see what's going on for myself.

Um... well as I just said, I apparently haven't got it. I'll post the two that I restored though.
Just for reference, the building in the world I'm looking for has a dome that looks like this:
OK I found the problem. There is a folder inside your "New World" folder, causing MC to not recognize it. I am currently uploading the correct world, and I will provide the link when it is done. Download it, and put that on into your minecraft. Should work then.

EDIT: Here is your world, it should work. I am going out now so if I don't get back to you for another couple of hours that is why. http://www.mediafire...8/New World.zip
Oh, OK! Well, at least your world is back. As for the nether problem, there isn't much you can do with those specific chunks, but if you keep the superflat world out of the saves folder, when you generate new chunks it should not generate superflat. Glad we got it working!

I deleted the mis-loaded chunks in MCedit, but when I exited the Nether afterward, it still dropped me in that same area anyway (with newly generated terrain) instead of at my original portal. That area, as I discovered when I followed your earlier suggestion about the coordinates, is quite a ways away. Far too far away for a portal functioning properly to open there.

Yes! That works!
The Nether problem is still there, though.

Nope, the portal was able to spawn in bedrock.

It always spawns in the exact same place, unless that spot is blocked, in which case it moves over a bit and spawns in almost the exact same place.
And yes, I'm exiting and leaving through the same portal.
I suppose I could always try deleting the Nether from my world and having it regenerate the whole Nether from scratch next time.

Hey, it worked. And the new Nether had a low-hanging glowstone cluster right next to where the portal opened too.
Thanks for all your help.
