I am having problems with the launcher. Out of nowhere it is ignoring my use of the java arguments built into the profile editor. In the JVM Arguments, I have put -Xmx10G, I have 16gbs of RAM, and yet when I bring up F3 in game, it is only allocating 455MB. I have gotten it to allocate the proper amount before, it has just started to randomly ignore it.
Here is the crash report from after 1 time I actually got it to load with the right RAM, and was able to select my resource pack of choice:

64 bit is indeed the only Java installed. Allocating more RAM allows Minecraft access to more memory to function. I use Sphax 512x, and normally it runs perfectly fine with how I have it set up. Minecraft has just been ignoring the RAM allocation I have put forth.
You may have an environmental argument added by some other process.
To fix this, click on the start menu, and search for "environment". Select "Edit environment variables for your account". If there is an entry for "JAVA_OPTION" or something along the lines of that, deleting it should resolve your issue.
Try decreasing the JVM allocate number, try 8g than 10g, I think jvm only reads 512,1,2,4,8,16 etc.
And it also says in ur crash "Registering texture", try updating your texturepack/resourcepack? or theres something wrong with it? Just check them out
i am having a similar problem. My minecraft won't revert back to a smaller allocation size. i had it at 7 once to experiment with shaders. Now i can't get it to go back down to 2g, for example. i have no environmental variable set.

How exactly are you launching the game?
It could also be caused by having a Java options Environment Variable set.
