same problem, i've had it for about 6months + no one seems to be able to fix it for me at least i have tried everything recommended and more, its done it to me over 3 different machines, it used to work for me then suddenly stopped working, not changed any router settings since it worked, other then to try and fix it and when nothing worked reverted it back, getting really angry that i paid 30$ for a game i can't play with my friends and no one seems to be able to fix it
here's a link to my dxdiag and any other information that might be helpful
using wired connections, tried wifi as well though, gives me a java connection refused exception error or a timed out error, i have port forward the minecraft ports causei used to run a server fine about a year ago but that won't even work now gives java errors for ppl trying to connect to that....i havew disabled all firewalls and anti-virus on all machines in the hope it might fix it to no avail... i really wish mojang and or the minecraft devs would try and address this issue in a patch or something as from what i see there as a TON of ppl having these issues.....anyways here's hoping someone can fix it
i tried using the 'Local host", the ipv4 address and the routers address still nothing >.<
when i used the local host and when i used the ipv4 address i get the error, connection refused, if i used the routers ip i get connection timed out not sure if that means anything but thought i'd mention it
also i am have both the 64-bit java and the 32-bit java installed as one of my web browsers i use it 32-bit, could they be screwing with each other and causing this problem?
also something worth mentioning i just remembered is that it never is able to search for the games being hosted, i always have to use direct connect, it fails to find the hosted game every time, it does this for both computers doesn't seem to matter who hosts it, they can't find each other on their own when it searches for lan games in the multiplayer menu
I found a solution if no one ever found out why, (atleast for me) The firewall blocks the program. you need to go into your firewall and allow any and All "java™ Platform SE Binary", and make sure that they all are checked for private and public.
(not sure about public but i checked mine anyways)
I have a problem similar to this, but slightly different.
I have 2 computers, Comp1 (good computer) and Comp2 (bad computer). Both computers run minecraft OK, and so I use them both.
When I host a LAN server on Comp2, It says it opened a server on (random 4-digit port, usually starting with 1), and Comp1 can connect to it. When I host a LAN server on Comp1, it says it opened a server on (random 5-digit port, usually starting with 5), and Comp2 and any other computers CANNOT connect to it. No errors or anything, minecraft just cant find the server, like normal.
Help would be very much appreciated on this topic, I can't figure it out for my life.
Same problem me and my brother want to connect on a techinc launcher pack and I cant see the world in my multiplayer menu. I don't know if I do something different for techinc to make it work. Does anyone have a solution that could help me?
