Here is a list of currently known bugs and problems:
1. Mac OSX Users on or below 10.5 and/or any users with a graphics driver that only supports OpenGL 1.3 can't play Minecraft. ETA for Fix: Fixed in 1.5.1. If you are receiving errors like this one, it means your computer is too old for Minecraft.
2. There's a memory leak within Minecraft that is triggered by the following conditions:
You're switching texture packs several times
You're using a HD texture pack with a resolution higher than 256x256
Users who are using a HD texture pack with a resolution higher than 64x64 will experience significant FPS drop.
ETA for Fix: 1.6. Relevant bug report is here
3. Texture packs made before 1.5 will not work on the new version. This is intentional. In order to update your texture packs for 1.5 use, use this Unstitcher by Mojang: http://assets.minecraft.net/unstitcher/unstitcher.jar
dont think anyone has mention this ... probly my own computer doing it but when i put a painting down it doesnt show up now if i break the block its on i will get the picture back anyone know how to fix this?
For bug reporters - I'm only posting bugs that can crash Minecraft. If you have a bug that doesn't crash Minecraft, open a thread in the Unmodified Minecraft Client Forum or search on the MoJIRA. Thank you!

People have been reporting this happening here on the forums, however it looks like no one has bothered to file a new report. The only report I can find is one from the snapshots that was resolved, but someone running the release has bumped it: https://mojang.atlas...browse/MC-11236
[EDIT]
Nevermind. Supposedly this issue is resolved in the 1.5.1 snapshot. Details on the Homepage of the forms here.
hello, now im not sure if im posting in the right place but i think this may be a bug with 1.5. weird lines are appearing between the blocks. ive tried quite a few things to get rid of it, but none of them seem to work..
sorry for the image being so big :') but you can see the lines every where and its very annoying, just wondered if this a possible bug or if anyone knows how to fix this.
thanks in advance
This happened to me when I turn on anti-aliasing (something anti-).
If you're using Optifine, turn off the anti- option for it.
OR...
...go to your Nvidia control panel and select [Manage 3D Settings].
Click add then browse to where you installed Java and find/select [javaw.exe] (DON'T choose minecraft.exe, javaw.exe is what Minecraft uses to run!)
Find the anti-aliasing option(s) and turn it/them off.
I've got a problem, not necessarily a bug.
Before this update (1.5), my Minecraft would run at 60 fps (vsync) and rarely budge.
Now, my Minecraft will run from 35 to 53 fps and jump all over the place.
Tried installing Optifine but doesn't help that much.
Re installed Java (64 bit) and tried launching minecraft.jar with 4gb of virtual memory (java -Xmx4G -Xms4g -jar minecraft.jar)
And yes, I tried turning all the settings down in Vanilla and Optifine.
Nothing seems to work...
Can someone point out some ideas or even tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Here are my specs if they help:
AMD Phenom II x6 1035T
EVGA GTX 560 ti (non-overclocked)
8gb Patriot DDR3 RAM

Try doing:
/High javaw -D64 -XX:-UseG1GC -Xms4G -Xmx4G -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=50 -XX:GCPauseIntervalMillis=200
The new garbage collector might help you a bit.
i have had a lsight problem on my 10.6 mac... when i open up minecraft to update MC it comes across a fatal error. can anyone tell me why it is doing this? thanks guys, nut its really bugging me, and i want to know whats going on...

This bug has been fixed in the latest snapshot, and will be on its way to 1.5.1. Thank you for sharing though!
There is a line stating it is included, but as you can see on the bug tracker: https://mojang.atlas.../browse/MC-1794
it has not been solved yet, and has been on going for some time mainly for ATI/AMD users if i read the comments there correctly.
Issue is a known issue since it has been around since november 2012, for many ATI users you can change all the settings you like in both java and or minecraft + mods, the lines/stiches stay even in 1.5.1 (tested this as soon as i saw the release).
*side note: its less in 1.5.1 depending on light fall, so it seems it is related to the new lighting system that is having unexpected effects on rendering results, or is badly handled by ATI software. Either way its still there and is not solved at all.
*side note II: Ok maybe it has been fixed now, the Texture pack i stitched doesnt have these "lines". Maybe its my default pack that isnt showing correclty for some reason.
Am Having The 64x + bug BIG TIME. I'm glad to know that other people are having this problem too. When did you say it was going to be fixed?Hey, Has Anyone Know Why The Skin Sever Is Down? (help.mojang.com)

Maybe this is the best place to say this:
I use a low-graphics texture pack and since a while a go the game gets laggy, it frozes, sometimes the blocks turn invisible and in other they all turn white. But in the end you can't play and you have to restart.
So, Then I turned to the average minecraft skin and a bigger problem persists, the game frozes after 5mins playing or crasher for no reason and a pop-up says "the windows graphic-card has recovered" appears, so probably is the graphic fall described above.
I have never experienced so many technical problems with the game until a while ago, but I watt to know if it is the update what is causing the error or maybe something on my computer (I really doubt it, since minecraft has always run fine)

I just got the update. When I try to log in to the server it crashes without going into the MOJANG screen. Also when I try to play it in my browser it will do the initial load and stop at the same point.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
