I recently bought minecraft ( Four hours ago actually). After setting up a mojang account complete with verification, I purchased and downloaded minecraft. After opening the launcher, I typed in the email address and password as prompted. After hitting login, Text appeared saying Login Failed. Thinking I had typed in the wrong password, I tryed again to no avail. After searching the web for an answer, it seems people had this problem whenever they had to transfer there accounts from minecraft to mojang. However I only have a mojang account. Can anyone help me with this problem?
Hey, just bought minecraft, had the same login error, followed the video and it still isn't working. Mojang says the servers are all online. Hope someone can figure this out soon.

It's not the Servers, I can tell you that right now.
Here's a thought, just log in on the website, start the game on the website, "X out", run Minecraft.exe.
It MIGHT work, since doing this helped me fix my Minecraft from the same problem.
If it doesn't help, you can still play offline for now. Sometimes giving it time will help.
Don't know if was your tip or not, but it's working now (just offline)!
But is the game so demanding from hardware? My notebook (Macbook pro 2012) is getting super hot, almost the same temperature of when I play Dragon Age: Origins...

First, HAPPY TO HELP
By the way, if you log in every once in a while, you will get online eventually. I think it's one of those things that fixes itself. If it isn't, you atleast have offline. But if you need to access a server and it never fixes, I recommend re-asking this.
Second,
Yes. It is. My netbook gets SUPER HOT when I run it.
There IS a way to speed things up if you get lag. First, you can lower graphics, view distance, etc. Make it all set to FAST. Second you can get Optifine, a GREAT MOD which GREATLY INCREASES MINECRAFTS SPEED.
I don't know if that will help the Heat, but it will help you if you get any lag.
Alright well, after hearing from Mojang and all, i realized i was logging in with the wrong e-mail so make sure if you registered with a gmail or a yahoo or hotmail that you have it correct people!

hi i am new to this but i need some help with that it says login failed but i can play offline i need help all sites are good but i still cant play online I WANNA PLAY
I had this same issue. I resolved it by making sure there wasnt any firewalls up against java and or minecraft. If you have McAfee be sure to check the firewalls and make sure nothing is preventing you from using minecraft.
If so, it's not being allowed through the firewall. {}
If not, it's the Java IPv6 bug as Tedster mentioned.
Yup! Try taking a look at video.
I was actually trying to play the demo, following this:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1402943-minecraft-131-demo-crash-fix-macintosh/
But I can't proceed since I can't log in.
Although I didn't follow the video (Mac) I turned off my firewall, but the problem persisted.
