Hello my name is kyle and I am farely new to the game, and am already having issues with freezing and lagging (OFFLINE).
Here are my specs, and no I do not run any mods
I am running an GLENDALE intel 775 cpu dual core@ 2.7ghz
2gb DDR2 ram
Nvidia 8400gs w/256mbr... (shiz town card)
Gigabyte G31M-es2L mobo
Front Side Bus 1600(O.C.)/1333/1066/800 MHz
North Bridge: Intel® G31 Express Chipset
South Bridge: Intel® ICH7
dual bios
Windows 7 32bit (this doesn't matter)
I can play for about 20min then I have to use the almighty ctrl-alt-del to force close MC =/
Again I play this game offline.
I hope someone out there can help me out, this is boring and am guna be mad that I payed 26 bones for this game and I can't even chop down a tree without, duh duhhh duhuhuduhuduhhhh...
oh and also I play with 32 bit java settings, and everything turned off =( sad panda
P.s. this is the same RIG I used to play countless hours of dragon age, (still play D3) and WOW and not a single jut or lagsicle.. until now
lol thanks, yeah thats what i am currently doing, well shopping, downside though is my budget but it's w/e. I just wanna mine =( back to solitaire.
Your setup is still better than mine and though I run at around 10-20 FPS (6-8 when the lag is really bad), I seldom get actual 'lag-lag' problems believe it or not much less freezing problems.
That said, I can't imagine you not being able to play Minecraft at least within reason if you tweak the game a little. Don't expect spectacular performance, but don't expect the worst, either.
This is what I have going for me:
Tablet PC Laptop computer running Windows XP Pro SP3 outfitted with 1.2 GHz Intel Pentium Mobile Centrino CPU, 2 GB of RAM, and an nVIDIA GeForce4 440 Go (32M).
With Minecraft Settings Set To:
Graphics: Fast, Render Distance: Short or Normal, Smooth Lighting: ON, Performance: Power Saver, 3D Anaglyph: OFF, View Bobbing: ON, GUI Scale: Normal, Advanced OpenGL: OFF, Brightness: Bright, Clouds: OFF, Particles: Minimal, and Server Textures: ON.
I would suggest changing your settings to adjust them for best Performance/Power Saver rather than Appearance in a manner similar to what I have done and turn off as much of the extra 3D rendering stuff as possible - especially Advanced OpenGL which I am rather sure your computer is choking over. Render Distance to Normal or Short vs Far is definitely another thing.
If you have anti-virus running, turn it off/disable it for the meantime while you're playing Minecraft and if you have any extraneous computer processes running in the background that are not necessary, kill them (but ONLY if you know what you're doing).
If you haven't cleaned your computer in a while, run an anti-virus sweep to make sure it's clean.
If you haven't updated your drivers and Java and whatnots, make sure they're updated correctly.
If you're the sort of person who likes to hibernate their computer often, reboot your computer to force it to get rid of that extra hibernation file it might be hoarding away.
Also realize that:
- new world Seed generation
- new chunks/area exploration
- flying around in Creative mode
- single player gamemode opens its own server
are all things that can affect game performance especially if your machine is more underpowered.
If you still want to give Minecraft a shot (and hey, like I said, I can play Minecraft decently enough on this old thing), try my advice (be careful about killing computer processes though if you're not familiar with them!) and see if things improve any.
