I just purchased and downloaded Minecraft a few days ago, and I have yet to have any success with playing it. I was able to play without problems for about 10 minutes, only to be disconnected with the following error message:
Upon attempting to reconnect, I connected to the server for 15-20 seconds, during which time only a very small area around me would render (any attempts to leave this area ended in falling endlessly), and once that 15-20 seconds was up, I would be disconnected with the same error, or one of the following:
Internal exception: java.net.SocketException: Read Time Out
I have Googled these errors quite thoroughly, followed the proposed steps for repair, and still had no success. I made sure my firewall settings allowed both Java and Minecraft through, and even tried shutting off the firewall entirely to see if that would help (not that I would play with it off anyways). I did a clean re-install of both Minecraft and Java, tried downgrading to the most recent version of Java 6, and even tried a system restore, all of which proved fruitless.
I run Windows 7 64-bit, I have Java 7 update 6 (64-bit), my Internet connection is wired with an ethernet to my laptop, and my speed test from http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ reads 2174 KB/s Download and 259.9 KB/s Upload.
I'm pretty well stumped here since the error messages keep changing on me nearly every time, but it is quite frustrating having just purchased this game, and already I am having so many issues with it.
If anyone would be willing to lend a hand, I would greatly appreciate it!
