Ok so this is a newish computer bought it eh about 3 months ago. When i set the render distance to far it may lag a little not much, if i set it to normal it normally doesn't lag at all. The problem is if i set it any higher than tiny render distance it will crash and say Minecraft has run out of memory. So the Specs on the computer is...
Dell Inspiron N7110 Intel Core i3-2330m CPU @ 2.2GHz RAM-6.0GB (5.90 useable)
System Type: 64 Bit Operating System on Windows 7.
When i switch to Far distance it says a 64 bit java is recommended you have 32. Also when i press F3 on minecraft is says: Uses memory ___ out of 989MB Allocated Memory 50% (495MB)
So if anyone knows why this is id greatly thank you lol. Obviously its not the processor since it doesnt lag on high render distance the problem seems to be not enough memory being given to minecraft!
Try download 64bit java, and if that doesn't fix it, dont worry. You just have to restart MC, so its not the end of the world. You could also try allocating more memory to Minecraft.

Can you tell me how to allocate more memory? I can't seem to do it with the ways I do it.

You can do it by launching minecraft using a batch file.
Decent instructions can be found here: http://www.damnthoseproblems.com/?p=186
I tried that but everytime i click on it a system32 window comes up and dissapears real fast. Help?
If you are using java 7 64 bit on windows 7, it would be something like this
You would need to replace Hidinginthelight with your username (Not forum name, but actual computer user name)
this would be Java 7 32 bit on Win 7
