I just opened firewall advanced settings in System Preferences, and firewall blocked Minecraft. I made firewall allow Minecraft and now it works! Thank you so much!! Now I can finally have friends join my LAN!

Hey how do i unblock minecraft from the firewall please tell me!
Yeah I recently made a server for me and my brother to play on whenenver he tries to connect it says "connection timed out" aswell. If anyone can fix this pls reply!
P.S. Does this have something to do with port forwarding?
The LAN server does not appear when it attempts to scan for LAN worlds. I've tried direct connect, and the IP address my friend's Minecraft gave him is this:
0.0.0.0:64692
I put that into direct connect, and I get the error message above. I know beggars can't be choosers, but please be clear if you give a solution. I say this because KittyCat122 up there failed to make her solution readable, and nothing grinds my gears more than instructions that are ambiguous because someone can't be bothered to type correctly.
How big is your house? And is everyone in the same house?

Every bloody CTM map series boasts that it's bigger, longer, and harder than other CTM series. It's almost as if it's a **** measuring contest. (bigger, longer, harder...)
So what's weird is I can connect to my sister's LAN worlds , but she can't connect to mine . Please help ! It says " Connection timed out: connect " When she tries to connect to mine . PLEASE HELP ME !!!
If you are getting the message -Connecting to server:Connect- the way to fix it is to turn off all firewalls on ALL the computers you are playing LAN with. I hope this helps:D
I got the same problem. When I want to create my LAN world, my brothers are unable to join it. My brothers computer always try to connecting it, but still doesn't work for us.
Go to Control Panel, Firewall Settings, and in the Exceptions add Minecraft.exe (may have to browse to find the minecraft.exe file) ANDalso add "Java(TM) Platform SE binary" to the list of exceptions. This worked for me.. I hope it works for you too.
How do u make it allow minecraft?
