I'm not sure then. Can't really help now. Since none of that worked, it's your computer definitley.
I dug through the official site and came across a page that helped, at least it seems to have fixed the problem. I use AVG for my virus protection. They said it can cause problems by blocking it. I temporarily disabled the LinkScanner and let the game completely initiate to the menu screen and reactivated it. Now everything is going smoothly.

Ahh, that's good! Glad to hear it's working!
Have fun bud!
Try using this, at this time I can not find an earlier beta download for you to test. http://www.minecraft...arly-heres-how/ Follow the instructions and tell me if this works, I will further look for earlier beta downloads. Good luck.

It didn't work. However, I did finally find a fix, if not only a very discrete and lucky one.
I was looking at what my video driver might've been contributing to the problem, considered rolling it back, etc. I ended up coming across this page, and followed all of its automatic suggestions and instructions. Lo and behold, the game ended up working! Keep in mind this is after I un- and re-installed the drivers from safe mode a couple days ago, so I wasn't expecting much to happen. But it worked, and now the client and the browser versions are running fine.

Ahh, good to hear buddy, have fun playing! My computer isn't good enough to play Minecraft anymore, so here I am being support for the community. And there's nothing I can do to fix my computer from lagging. Sucks to suck. ^.^
My game has always worked, even on the old 12-year-old piece of crap that i used to play it on, but i just got a new windows 7 dell computer and it no longer works, whenever i try to play it logs in and updates and then black screens and closes, i have tried force updating, deleting and reinstalling my minecraft, reinstalling java, and all that stuff and it still does the same thing. i dont use any mods at the moment

I have no idea, this is the weirdest situation to be honest. You've done all of those but yet your brand new computer doesn't play it? That doesn't seem right.. Is there any Firewall or Virus systems running that are disabling Java from running certain programs?
Hello! I just made a new account and I'm trying to connect to the minecraft website so I can buy the account, but the website keeps telling me that my password and username are both wrong! I even tried with my cousins account (He already purchased the game) and it will not allow him to log in either! What's going on? I want to play!

I don't know, it can't be anything wrong with the website, I'm logging in fine. Maybe your keyboard is messed up, or you're typing too fast? There's not really many possibilities.
Are the specs of your computer up to date? Because I know mine are, they run fine for 2-5 minutes, and it starts lagging for a long time. So I don't know. Tell me what the specs of your computer are. (RAM etc.)
Oh I see, then it must be your network.
Try turning off your router. Waiting 30-35 seconds, and turning it back on.
that didnt work either. i also thought because its an .exe file it was being blocked my a firewall so i uninstalled my antivirus software and it still didnt work. any other ideas?

I don't know, it has to be your computer, there's nothing else you could really do other than download fix applications.

Is it generating a crash log?
