Tried disabling firewalls and I checked for RelevantKnowledge and did a full MalwareBytes Scan but nothing found :/ I really have no idea what's going on, I've googled to no avail also.
Any last ideas before I give up? haha
Edit: I don't know if it will help but I can't download minecraft from the minecraft website, the site crashes everytime. I also can't skip the update because I just get a black screen. If I try to open Minecraft.jar it says that it is invalid or corrupt.
Delete your .minecraft folder, and hit force update on the downloaded launcher instead of trying to skip the update.
Delete the minecraft.jar file in the bin folder and try again. If it doesn't work, delete the bin folder and play the browser version. If it downloads correctly, you should be able to use the launcher and the files will already have been installed.

Did you download anything? Do you have any programs open that you usually don't have open? (Check task manager) Do you have any mods installed that were not on before?
Try using the OptiFine mod. also.
Going to sleep late tonight, working as a web designer at age 14 is hard. 1:59 AM EST. Will answer questions when I wake up, feel free to post for answer tomorrow. Make sure to read Database answers first before posting.
Thanks for getting back to me. Went on the Java website and I can only get Java 6 Update 33 and it doesnt specify 32 or 64 bit. Can you possibly give me a link where I can download the exact correct program, there are a whole heap of java programs available and I dont know which to use. And please excuse my ignorance but how do I find my account name for windows? (or do you mean the account name in minecraft) and how do you know that java is using a direct connection?
Hey guys, I'm back from Vacation wasn't really able to monitor this thread well through my iPhone but I'm back and ready to start answering questions. A few new answers will be added to the db tonight.
This isn't so much of a problem as it is an annoyance at my own lack of forethought, but I was wondering if you could help me anyways. When my internet went down one day, I hopped into Minecraft to start building to pass the time, since I knew I could play offline. I created a new world and started building something I've always wanted to, but after I had made considerable progress, I noticed that I was in Snapshot 12w25a. I really like what I've built, and I don't want to lose it, but I would like to be able to try out newer features on it, newer than 12w25a at least. Is there a way to convert this snapshot world into a later release, such as 12w30a, or 1.3 when it comes out?

When 1.3 comes out, you'll automatically be able to update to 1.3 and the world will be converted by going to the downloaded Minecraft.exe client and under options you can hit force update. If you do that today, it will convert your world to 1.2.5 which is what we're at now. If you want to put on snapshot: 12w30a just download and do the same as what you did to download snapshot 12w25a and download 12w30a and you should have 12w30a on. Or hit force update in the downloaded client for 1.2.5.
Any help you can give me on my problem would be great!
Whenever I try to login into minecraft I get the "Can't login" message. I've updated java, and my video drivers. Tried deleting the .minecraft folder, running as admin, and force updating before logging in. I've also tried playing in a browser but I just get a black screen. I had a cracked copy of minecraft that didn't work so I figured I would pay for the game. Now the legit copy isn't working either. Not sure what my next steps should be. Thanks in advance.

Oh, so worlds aren't saved on the verion of Minecraft they're created on, but instead are automatically updated to whatever version is being run?

Think of it this way. Every time Minecraft updates you don't lose your wooden planks. Because the next update always has the same stuff from the last update + more. So going from a lower snapshot, to a higher snapshot. Won't do anything. But going from a snapshot back to 1.2.5 will make some of the added things from the snapshot dissapear. Not the EXP from Mining ores though.
I have recently bought a new laptop, naturally the first thing I wanted to install is Minecraft!
I have downloaded the latest version of Java, and Jre. I have downloaded the latest version on Minecraft too. When I try to login to the game client it goes to the 'logging in' state, and after about a minute says 'Cant connect to Minecraft.net' I've checked and minecraft.net is not down, neither are any of the login servers.
I've tried running minecraft as an administrator and even tried sticking minecraft.exe into a .rar and changing the file extension to be .jar, still to no avail.
I'm now out of ideas to try to see what I can get working.
Try downloading the .jar not .exe version of the downloadable client. It tends to be less buggy, and check if you have any programs blocking MC from accessing the internet.

Hello. I have been having alot of trouble playing multiplayer for the past two months now. When I try to log onto a server it says: Internal client error: Java.net.SocketException: Permission denied: connect

I hope that you can help me. Thanks.
It could be your antivirus software or Firewall doesn't recognize the developer and refuses to allow it access to your computer.
I've tried that and it didn't work, I've tried the in browser MC and got this error 'java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect' which makes me think there is a conflict somewhere. I have that stupid McAfee trial installed, as its a new laptop... Currently uninstalling as we speak and getting Avast! (which I know well) and will then configure this with MC.
Will keep you posted, in case others come across this issue!
I had this issue before, It turned out I had changed ISP and as such required a new router, which meant I had to set up port forwarding again.
Can I suggest going here - http://portforward.c...necraft_Server/, selecting our router manufacturer and following that guide. Smithite if you don't agree with this let me know and I'll remove this post.
Just trying to help out
As I thought... the McAfee trial was trying to overwrite all windows firewall standards with it's own stricter ones. This caused nothing to work. Have switched over, set MC as an exception and all works nicely.
Cheers for the help mate!
If it's a download please delete it ASAP as downloads are a risk to other forum members.
And no problem, always glad to help.
Delete your .minecraft folder, and hit force update on the downloaded launcher instead of trying to skip the update.
Then your Java is corrupt, or you card or driver is corrupt.
Delete the minecraft.jar file in the bin folder and try again. If it doesn't work, delete the bin folder and play the browser version. If it downloads correctly, you should be able to use the launcher and the files will already have been installed.
