Hello everyone! I have a idea to reduce lag(did wonders for me, I mean WONDERS) play MP(unless you don't like MP if so, Stop reading now) on a server with Good specs and that will take the load of world rendering off your computers shoulder, so all your computer has to do is load the worlds graphics and send/receive server/player data(which is easy when you post here that's what your doing, MC is just larger scale). thanks for reading, that's my advice don't feel like you have to do that to remove lag its just my advice.
Here are the tips I use now.
In Minecraft do ESC
-turn FPS to Maximum
-Smooth lighting off. I MEAN IT. OFF!!!!
-Graphics to Fast
-view bobbing off
-use Vsync off. or on? (I sometimes change because it is desperate)
-render to tiny, short, or normal, DON'T EVER EVER SET FAR!
-Try not to use more than 16 bit texture pack. Avoid very high bit of texture pack because i once used it and it caused me HUGE LAG!
-Particles minimal
-Fullscreen off (Not much shown though)
-Clouds off
Some other recently found suggestions are check system requirements REUPLOAD THE WHOLE MINECRAFT!! (I mean delete .minecraft in appdata) Clean and defrag the windows registry Optimize background services (If u have the software. I don't have anyway) Defrag your Drives Ajust windows for best performance:
1. Click Start, right click My Computer.
2. Select Properties.
3. Click Advanced System Settings | Advanced.
4. Click Settings under Performance.
5. Under Visual Effects, select the option Adjust for Best Performance.
6. Click Apply | OK | OK.
Disable antivirus real time protection
Clean disk.
What a long list!
Thanks man you really helped, i watched so many tutorials on how to reduce Minecraft Lag, and none of them helped. Apparently it was the Smooth Lighting i had it on Maximum. That caused my horrible lag on servers and building stuff on creative.
If you are running a 64 bit system make sure you have the 64 bit version of Java. I am pretty sure Java default download is 32 bit. Also run Spybot Search and Destroy. You will be surprised what effect these illicit programs have on your lag. Also keep your system defragged
My Samsung laptop used to lag A LOT, and it would say Minecraft has crashed everytime I played, it was SO slow. I found out a few ways to stop lag in minecraft and now i play very smoothly and never crash. Here they are:
1: Install Razer game booster: Sign up for Razer game booster and download it, then open it and press "add". It will let you choose what game(s) you want to boost. After you add Minecraft, press boost and it will open minecraft launcher. When you start playing, you will find it is a lot smoother, plus you can play with top graphic settings.
2: press control alt delete and open task manager while Minecraft is running. Type "j" (no quotes) and "javaw.exe"s should appear. Right-click it and select priorities, then press "high", NOT THE ONE ABOVE. The one higher than "high" will cause system instability as it basically directs all the computers power and memory to minecraft, then windows wont work properly. This should help. NOTE: you must do this every time you open minecraft because it resets once you close it.
3: If you don't want to try the above, just lower the video settings by pressing "esc"-options-video settings- then set the options to these:
render distance: Tiny
Smooth lighting: Off Clouds: Off 3D anaglyph: Off GUI scale: Normal
Advanced OpenGL: Off View bobbing: Off Performance: Max FPS Fullscreen: Off
graphics: Fast Clouds: Off Particles: Minimal Use Vsync: Off
I hope this will work for you!
I use Technic Launcher 1.6.4 but I can allocate 1150 MB to it. My mods are: Pixelmon,MrCrayfish Furniture Mod, Single Player Commands,Rei's Minimap and TreeCapitator. (all with its coremods and Forge). It takes 25%-35% of my allocated memory. My settings are all low graphics, but I still get 0-20 fps. Most of the time I have 0-15 fps. Help me please
I was trying to find all the methods to reduce lag in minecraft and many other games and i have decided to share my knowledge : 1) You can set low graphics in game as mentioned above.
2)Go to start and right-click on "Computer" and go to properties. On the left you will see "Advanced system settings" , click on it then you will see a window with system properties. Go to the "advanced" tab and click on settings right under performance, from there you can simply "adjust for best performance" and after you've done you can go to the advanced tab (again ), and click the change button under the "virtual memory" section . Now you can set how much of you're disk space you want to transform into RAM if you press "change" .
3)Install optifine
4)Right click the battery icon on your notification area and set power option to high performance.
5)Install a program called gamebooster . What it basically does is close all the unneccesary processes in the background http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html <- download link
6) I might add some methods later on
This helped me so much. My computer and Minecraft is 3x faster now that I've done this.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!

1-Know which driver is the most empty
2-Open the launcher.
3-Click "Edit Profile"
4-It should be like C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft
5-Switch it to D:\.minecraft or whatever the other driver is.
6-You're welcome
Just to look badass
