(Yes, this belongs in the support board. but I got no help there. I'm assuming this board gets more traffic, so I have a better chance)
A few days ago I was messing around with some mods. I had created a back-up prior to this, so I simply replaced my minecraft and deleted the modified version. When I got in, it would not simulate any of the worlds. It would get up to the "Generating Terrain" finish, then get to "Simulating World For a Bit" and then crash. I am running Minecraft 1.5_1 on a Macbook Pro running OSX 10.6.7, with the latest version of Java. I've never had this problem before after using mods, as I normally run minecraft with Single Player Commands and Too Many Items. If you have any ideas on how to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.
Edit:
(Probably Should Have Added this Before) I'm running on a Intel Core 2 Duo Processor at 2.4 Gigahertz with 4 gigs of RAM. Normally I can run Minecraft on Normal and Fancy with Smooth Lighting and OpenGL, and usually get around 60 fps.
If you wanted to replace the game and keep the saves you should have just deleted the bin folder...it reloads with a fresh copy as you probably already knew...

I always keep my saves backed up, I have them. Either way, deleting my whole minecraft folder or my bin does nothing.
Tried both. Restart doesn't work, and browser doesn't get past the Mojang loading screen, but its laggy in browser anyhow, and would much rather be able to play it standalone.
The next step
You stated your OS but didn't state any hardware specifics. You also didn't state how well your computer played before this on what settings or for how long.

I know what the problem is! i had it!
Its not minecraft, its the save, it has modded blocks/inventory items that the game doesnt recognize without a mod. youre pretty much lost your world until youg et the mod back up.

Nope, already covered this. It doesn't work on any save, modded, unmodded, old or new.

Also try loading it in the browser.

[so give that information in the post]
I didn't. Any worlds with mod added Items I took out of the saves when I replaced them.
