It could be lag, but honestly I don't think it is. Yes I lag when I have it on far distance, but this is a different kind of lag, where it's fine except for the moment you are right clicking. It goes back to being fine right after it's double right clicked for you.
I don't know why, but this only started happening in 1.0, and it only happens in creative mode. It never happens on survival mode, even when i have a massive castle built.
This started just a week or so ago. I just right click to place a block and about half the time it quickly places the first and then another on top. This is really annoying and I know it's only a minecraft problem because this isn't occurring in any other games or applications. or maybe its my mouse idk, all i know it that only in minecraft is it an issue.
It's lag Exit minecraft and restart, and that might help. Thought the bug can come back rather quickly, usually it stops the double-placing for a while.
I'm having this problem as well with every setting I can think of being set to it's absolute lowest and with no other process running in the background of my 4 GB, Windows 7 Professional, Core Duo laptop...
This is incredibly frustrating. What's going on with this? Has Notch or anyone affiliated with him mentioned anything about it on any of his blogs or websites?
It's apparent to me that this is definitely a full-fledged bug with the game because far too many people are having this problem to be otherwise... People who have decent systems, too (there's some people with i7s and 8 GB or ram admitting to having this issue)...
And just so I can say I said it, I'm not knocking Notch or his game at all. I love the game and Notch is an awesome person for coming up with it but there has to be a solution for this that is non-hardware based if a game like "Skyrim" can run 10x better with no problems at all. This "double-placement" bug ONLY HAPPENS IN MINECRAFT.
Here are some things I've tried to fix this (all of which have not helped at all and short of buying a new computer--something everyone is so quick to advise doing):
I've set everything to it's absolute lowest setting...
I'm currently using "OptiFine"... And it does nothing about the double-placement at all.
Shut everything down in the background (i.e. - unnecessary programs, services, etc.)
Updated my 32-bit Java... Did nothing.
Uninstalled the 32-bit to install the 64-bit Java... Did nothing.
Increased my page file max amount to 4k+... Did nothing.
Updated the Minecraft game itself (duh). Did nothing about this...
I'd feel better about all this if an official Minecraft statement would just admit that it exists and that they're doing something about it. This is the ONLY issue I have with this game. Everything else (AFAIC) is practically flawless--but that's just my opinion. I love the game, but this is getting to a point for me that it's becoming a deal-breaker now because it's happening with almost every attempt to place a block.
I have a theory I'd like to bounce off you guys. I have played roughly 15-20 worlds, each time I create a huge mine or giant tower/temple/structure, the bigger the structure/mine the worse the problem becomes. When I leave the structure, even just a few paces away I can place blocks with no issues at all. I believe that large structures where substantial amounts of blocks have been placed or removed become glitchy. This problem affects almost anyone with a well developed world who plays on an older computer or laptop with a feeble OS, limited RAM, old or limited video cards, or a heavy amount or adware, bitware, spyware, etc. Before you tell me to change priority settings, change in-game video settings, use 'Game Booster', or defrag my computer, know that I have tried all of that and this problem has not changed. My friend has a custom built system unit with top grade videocards and parts and his minecraft worlds run smoothly despite large structures or being heavily developed. So, my suggestions: 1) Deal with it 2) Buy a very nice(expensive), game oriented computer 3) Buy custom video cards, expand RAM, and devirus, defrag etc. 4) Build small. Three is kind of multiple on one but you get the idea. If your blocks/torches are double placing near large structures or developed parts of your game but you can place blocks in untouched areas without any issues, then this theory might be on the right track. So if this theory checks out with any one else in the community, or not, feedback would be much appreciated.
See the problem i have with that is if you have been building a big structure and it begins to happen, what do you do?
Forget that project and move to the next?
Its extremely frustrating and its been causing me to lose the interest in playing...
This bug has made me almost stop playing entirely, I've been on minecraft since alpha, and it seems like the more I played on my world and the more updates happened this got worse. I average 30fps, but when i open a door place a block etc. it double click and it annoys me so much..
I am also having this problem. I used to play Minecraft a LOT but now I've given up. My laptop doesn't run to well though, so I will probably buy a new desktop. I hope that helps but I have a feeling it won't. My fps is 10 and goes down to like 6 when I place a block though -___- So I'm sure a new computer will help. I just have no idea which one to get. @_@
What I did is I lowered down the sensitivity of the mouse in the settings. Working so far. Try doing that, I lowered mine to about 50, but you can probably go higher.
I've been having this problem a lot too. It used to happen every few minutes or so and I could brush it off, but within a month or two it's gone to every single click. And I can say that the larger builds=more double clicking idea is true for me. But it's really annoying when I have quite a few nice, huge projects that I can't work on at all.
It's not my computer or my mouse, as it used to work fine, and it's not lag. It lags when I go on far with fancy graphics. It double clicks when I'm on tiny and fast.
TL;DR: Same stuff as everyone else, really annoying, a solution would be wonderful.
I too have this issue. I used the guide to improve performance that appears on this site, and no dice. It cannot possibly be my clicking as it happens faster than you can blink. It seems to happen in certain areas, and when I go to destroy the block (creative mode) it destroys more than one block. My mouse sensitivity, laptop cleanliness, mouse cleanliness, graphical settings, background programs, updated programs and drivers etc. are all where they should be or where it has been recommended.
It is a very frustrating thing, and I too put it down to an in-game bug that it would be nice to have identified soon. In case it helps, I'll add comp specs, including operating system to help pin-point a pattern:
Acer Aspire
2G ram (yes it is low but ran fine with earlier versions)
Windows 7 Home
Hopefully the Minecraft team can find us all a solution soon :smile.gif:
I have this problem on two computers out of three, both lower end PCs. The primary home computer doesn't because it's built towards gaming. My laptop DOES have the problem and it (as laptops are) hard/impossible to upgrade. One is XP, and the other Win7.
My guess of the issue is that it's the ability to hold down a button and place multiple blocks quickly combined with lag on slower computers. If the PC lags while placing a block the program just see what you were doing when the lag started (pressing the button). It thinks you held it.
I wonder if being able to turn that ability off in settings would fix it. That ability would have to be implemented in order to test it.
Yes. MC Downgrader can do that
OK Just PUT THE SENSITIVITY DOWN TO %100 OK
And Dont Go Out And Buy A New Mouse Your Just Throwing Your Money Away.

We need this fixed immediately! :sad.gif:

Just my two cents.
