Any word on this? This is a pretty annoying problem that causes a lot of issues when trying to place items that are not easily removed or must be destroyed like glass. I run the game with optifine at well over 60fps with a wireless mouse. The problem isn't constant, but it's there often enought to cause issues.
3. Check how much RAM you're allowing Javascript to use. The default setting is often too low, and the game has to redirect to the harddrive, causing the problematic editing lag.
That 3rd one is what worked with me. Lemme know what happens.
hey how do you do this cause i have this problem and i think its lag or ram allocation or something because its DEFS not clicking speed so everyone please stop saying that.
I have been having this problem along with some others since Minecraft updated to make you automatically create your own server when you start a single player game. It's like I am getting lag from connecting to my own world now. My world is slow to load, or will sometimes wait until I physically step on the chuncks to load them, I double place blocks, and mobs seem to hit me and avoid my hits far too often. The game ran perfectly fine before they added this new function and there isn't even a way to turn it off. I don't want, nor will I ever want to connect my worlds to a LAN, and to force me to connect to one in any way and creating lag is just ridiculous.
1)Ctrl+alt+del
2)start task manager
3)processes
4)Scroll down until you find "javaw.exe" under Image name.
5)Right click "javaw.exe"
6)set priority
7)Set to "Above normal" or "High"

I have been having this problem for soooo long. It is super frustrating, especially when I am in Creative and building something huge.
Here is a crazy FIX I tried. I switched the right click action to the "n" button. It didn't double place blocks anymore!
I still use the right click mouse action when I am in survival.
From all the reading I have done, there seems to be a lag associated with mouse click signals to the game. We have switched settings and mouses to no avail. I hope my crazy idea helps someone out there.
Guys i have 2 answers for this
1. unplug your mouse and lightly blow in the crack of the LMB not the middle the crack in front that should stop double clicking
2. Your lagging yes i know you technically not but in a way you are, it will not sho visually but it happens, i suggest getting optfine and razors game booster you can look them both up on google
Hop this helped

Dude read the topic several people have recommended this and it doesn't work.
nephco that's a great idea ill have to try that
1) Clean your mouse
2) Check mouse double-click speed in the settings for your mouse (in Control Panel On Windows)
3) (probably not it) Change mouse sensitivity in Minecraft options. It is the only in-game setting to effect the mouse.
Excuse me for the redundancy of this post, but after reading through this topic I thought I would make a few things clear. I have been experiencing this issue for quite some time, but as a few others have said it only occurs in areas with lots of detail - especially when there is complex lighting involved.
- it is not related to my mouse, yes I cleaned my mouse and reduced the sensitivity. I reloaded minecraft
and my first click gave me a triple block placement.
- closing all other programs before starting minecraft has little to no effect.
Maybe my computer isn't up to the gaming standards of some, but it's fairly nice, capable, and only a couple years old - it runs Diablo 3 pretty well. For now, It's not in the budget to upgrade - but this issue nearly ruins the entire fun of minecraft... it can make a task that would normally take five minutes, twenty five minutes. I had to post this rant because it is simply infuriating and I'm not tech savvy enough to come up with a solution on my own.
This is happening to me. I have checked my settings ands know they are ok, reading the previous posts in this thread.
When laying blocks it's as thought i have double right clicked, which i know i have not. also when crafting it puts two blocks into the crafting panel. This is happening more than 50% of the right clicks i do and is very frustrating.
Please someone help, There must be a fix
Honestly I'm thinking it's something we're going to have to deal with unless Mojang changes the way clicks register somehow. This has happened in creative too when left clicking.
I find if you really hit the button fast, it won't happen. You have to position your finger vertical though, so it's a huge hassle.
If you had a super computer I'm sure it wouldn't happen.

It has nothing to do with that. It is mostly a LWJGL Issue, update it and it might resolve the issue.
Also, as this is turning into a "megathread" I'd have to lock it, and further inquiries should be made on their own separate threads.

i went to http://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/10-ways-to-make-minecraft-run-faster/ and did everything it said also change the optifine settings to what it suggests on the forum page
I AM SO HAPPY NOW

This does not fix the problem, mainly because it isnt being caused by lag...
