Er.. you don't need to give it more ram, the hell's the matter with you people. If the program needs ram, it'll automatically have it assigned to it. As its needs increase, so too does the ram used. Adding in what's not presently needed does nothing!
Crazy people.
Evalora it crashes and doesn't take more memory from the computer when it needs it.
Thread bump cause Yolo
Imagine my disappointment when I open this thread and the first thing I read is "OMG GUISE Notch said you don't need m0ar ramsz!!"
Or something like that..
Also: I had allocated 1GB of RAM to minecraft already when it crashed like this. I guess a 512m render distance really takes its tolls?
ok ive seen an done alot of these memory fixes but none work i have a quad core 6gig laptop with a 3 gig SD card set up for cach allocation and a 32 bit os ive done them all and still no fix why is it this game with how little demand for hardware seems to be more demanding for Ram then say Diablo 3 or starcraft 2 just seems a little problematic to me so maybe im doin something wrong idk but i cant say for sure why any help would be greatly appreciated

How much ram are you trying to allocate, because allocating a large amount of ram can cause problems. It is actually recommended that you allocate 400mb.
To everyone in this thread, more ram does not always mean a faster game. Actually, allocating more ram to minecraft slows it down as the program has more space to search through to find files. In a sense, you are diluting minecraft by adding too much ram.
Did you just reply to a post from two years ago?

2. Thats not even the same issue
3. Start your own thread
4. Requesting this thread be allowed a quiet graceful death

Windows Vista SP2 32-bit
2GB RAM
Intel Pentium D 2.8 GHz CPU
NVidia GEForce 8400 GS Graphics Card
I know this is a waaay outdated comp, but my family's budget's small. How much RAM do I need to allocate to Minecraft 1.3.1 to have it run smoothly?
I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!
