To be honest, I don't think Hard mode is difficult enough. Daytime alone is relatively innocuous now that we can skip the night time, and there aren't nearly enough different baddies to begin with. It is precisely because of my love for the challenge of the Adventure modes that I wish for the option to disable creepers. If it wasn't for the creeper, I would never even consider Peaceful mode.
The reason for this is that the creeper stifles everything that makes Minecraft enjoyable to me. What I love most about Minecraft is the balance it offers between adventure and creativity. The creeper, and the creeper alone, in my experience, ruins both of these.
The creativity aspect of Minecraft is ruined for obvious reasons. The creeper destroys that which we create, and forces us to perform maintenance on our creations, which, for those of us who don't enjoy mowing lawns and taking out the trash (which I suspect is most gamers), is not what I would consider enjoyable gameplay. Plus, the task of creeper-proofing our creations, personally, does more to slow down my creative flow than it does to enhance it, not to mention it doesn't offer the most aesthetically appealing results.
And all this time spent cleaning up creeper explosions, or imagining how to creeper-proof our creations in the first place, distracts completely from both the joy of creativity, but also, tragically, from the joy of actual adventure. I don't want my creations to be adventure-proof! I absolutely adore the idea of facing down baddies in the midst of some beautiful environment of my own invention. That's exactly what I want! That's exactly what's on my mind when I envision all the cool things I want to build. Unfortunately, there is no way to creeper-proof a creation without also neutering it of adventure.
And on an SMP server, all of these problems are compounded ad infinitum. The damage wrought by thirty to forty players running around attracting creepers is ridiculous, not to mention the fact that it is an enormous pain in the ass trying to get thirty to forty players to clean up all the messes they attract, which, to be honest, is not something gamers should have to worry about in the first place. As of now the only way to avoid such a problem is to bypass the whole adventure thing completely, which is, like I said, tragic :sad.gif:
I very much want Notch to include an option to disable the creeper, or to disable its destructive capabilities, that way those of us who enjoy the balance between the adventure and the creative outlet may do so unfettered without having to rely on the often-unreliable mods.

Also, I can understand how it would ruin creativity. But for that we have peaceful.
But then, this next part is dumb. From what I can understand, you are saying "I want my inventions to be able to be destroyed by creepers, but not actually destroyed by creepers." Creepers are a vital part of minecraft adventuring.
But anyways, I'd be fine with it if it was like the way it is in the Custom Difficulty thread.
Edit: Just searched, didn't come up with anything. I remember seeing that thread! What happened to it?

I believe he's saying "I want to risk dying, not homelessness."
I hate creepers a lot... so much... , so so much... so so so much... i just want to go to mojang , find the creeper code and start writing **** in the code.
But well... I think this its a good idea , creepers should be disabled...

Oh! I see. But still, there is no fun in loosing if you can't loose everything. But I did not come here to discuss how to play minecraft, as if that is every dictated then it would be awful. So whatever. Support.
I think creepers are an iconic part of minecraft, primarily because they attack what really matters to us in the game: our creations. Although this can be annoying and even infuriating, it is the only way to create a mob that can (really) have an effect on us. Although I do understand your complaints and wouldn't mind if one was put in. I just wouldn't use it.

You guys should really read a post before responding. Most of what you're saying I rejected in my first two sentences, and then I explained why.
I did read it. All of it. No TL;DRs involved. You should really not assume that they didn't read it, and consider that maybe they did read it and didn't understand it, or you didn't understand them.
If I Remember correctly, the custom difficulty thread talked about enabling and disabling certain mobs, but I am not sure.

In the current game, we can either have peaceful mode, which is kinda boring, or easy+ witch is full o' nasties (creepers mainly).
What I would like, is more control over the difficulty of Minecraft, rather than:
Peacful - BORING
Easy+ - CREEPERS!
This will allow me (and others) to have more fun in the game by being able to fight some monsters, without having everything we work hard to make blown apart by creepers.
First suggested option on the Custom Difficulty thread:
-Which monsters you would like/not like to see, so you can have zombie survival if you wanted, or creeper mayhem!
Last suggested option on the Custom Difficulty thread:
-monster destruction (on,off?)
This would also allow you to make Hard more difficult, while at the same time being able to turn off Creepers or their explosions. See what happens when you assume I didn't read the thread and in turn don't actually take a look at the suggestion I offered? You look like a fool.

Support. Ghasts too? I hate geing my stuff damaged, it infuriates me more than anything else in this whole game.
Ghasts are a slightly different case, considering that they exist in the Nether and the Nether is a separate, characteristically destructive dimension, so you kind of expect some carnage out there. Our creations exist mostly in the real world, so ghasts don't typically pose a problem. Nevertheless, I'm not entirely against having the option to disable ghast destruction as well.
And also, this has nothing to do with "custom difficulty". Cleaning creeper explosions is not an issue of difficulty, it's an issue of gameplay dynamic. It's not difficult, it's just tedious and banal.

This has nothing to do with difficulty, which I make clear in the second sentence of my post.

Yep. So sorry OP, no longer support. I do support Custom Difficulty, which would give you what you want.
