so we always think of villagers as good, well why not have some bad ones, bandit villagers will spawn in a new structure called "bandit camp." in the bandit camp will be tents, a campfire, log seats, and loot chests containing (iron, gun powder, wood to stone tools, and rarely 1-2 diamonds or enchantment book. there will be from 1-5 bandit villagers in a camp and they will attempt to mug the player and some other hostile mobs (illagers, villagers, wandering traders, etc). they are non aggressive until hit where there whole bandit squad will be angered and attack said creature or player with wooden to iron weapons.
design for villager is a hood, robe, and mouth cover
Having villagers, and illagers, and 'bandit' villagers would be a bit weird, I think. They were probably aiming to create the dichotomy between good villagers and bad illagers, so to make 'bandit' villagers that are kind of oddly in between would mess that up.
But, this could be a new illager. There is a lot of backlash on the idea of items being stolen from players, so instead, maybe they have a "trade" action, but it's really you just paying them not to attack you.
If you take too long to open the "trade", don't give them enough emeralds, or close the "trade" without payment, they attack.
Agreed with headgames001 that it seems weird to have a group between Villagers and Illagers. If it was just like an Illager Camp structure that had a few Illagers with axes and crossbows I would like it more.
