As the new update is Nether based, there should be an item called "Nether chest". It would work similar to the ender chest, but everyone could access it. So if i would put an item in it, my friend could take the item being even in the "End" with a different nether chest. The crafting should be a single normal chest and one netherite. Really hope this makes it to the game.
Also, there is no way to make a block float in lava. If you want it to float, it has to be an entity similar to a donkey with a chest on its back. And in either case, trying to mine the chest would cause the respective item to fall in the lava and destroy, so I don't really see the use for this overall.
I like the spirit of the idea, since the Nether is kind of lacking original things like the End and having wood chests in fortresses has always bothered me since 1.6, even though they don't actually burn up.
Not necessarily; for this to work it would need to have its own inventory separate from Ender chests, so you'd now effectively have twice as much storage space. I would certainly find this useful myself; I even added a double-chest variant of Ender chest to TMCW (3 chests total, no Shulker boxes) which I use to transport resources back to my main base (a total of up to 117 stacks instead of 63 with a normal Ender chest and inventory, with chests at both bases so I don't have to carry them. Otherwise, I use a normal Ender chest as a backpack while caving, in part because I don't need that much space, and I made "Diamond Ender Chests" (crafted by surrounding an Ender chest with 8 diamonds) unable to be harvested with Silk Touch for balance purposes (they return the obsidian and diamonds).

Would only be useful for multiplayer.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
Okay, so yes it's useful, but it's not original. It's just a more convenient Ender Chest when in singleplayer.
