How about Micro$oft allow modders in the community to distribute their mods to fellow MineCraft players for free if they want to? Some people are not obsessed with money, they make mods for fun and want to give something to the community. So why does Micro$oft not allow them to do this?
C'mon Micro$oft, show everyone that you're not rabid capitalists, and do something nice for the community for a change.
The system actively checks for modifications, and will not work if it detects that it has been changed.
This is also true for Java:

That's what happens if I install a mod I made without deleting META-INF, which contains checksums for every single file in the jar as well as the jar as a whole. Even with META-INF deleted the launcher will redownload an intact jar file unless you edit the json file to remove the download URL:
Not only that, they obfuscate the code so you can't just decompile it; you have to deobfuscate it into readable, recompileable code, which also must be reobfuscated in order to work, which is the reason why you can't run a mod for 1.11 on 1.12 (or even 1.12.2, though some simpler mods can take advantage of Forge's deobfuscation) even if they made no changes to the code it depends on (and MCP did not decide to change a variable name) - and the main reason for obfuscation is to make it harder to tamper with it:
In software development, obfuscation is the deliberate act of creating source or machine code that is difficult for humans to understand. Like obfuscation in natural language, it may use needlessly roundabout expressions to compose statements. Programmers may deliberately obfuscate code to conceal its purpose (security through obscurity) or its logic or implicit values embedded in it, primarily, in order to prevent tampering, deter reverse engineering, or even as a puzzle or recreational challenge for someone reading the source code.
In other words, modding is technically not supported in Java, otherwise, why would they go through all this trouble?
As for Bedrock, I don't see why console rules must apply to the game when you use it on a PC or mobile device - those rules are specific to consoles and forbid any sort of tampering, not just modifying a game on them. People have made mods for Windows 10 Edition, despite others claiming that it was not possible or illegal (although it is far more difficult since C++ can't be easily decompiled into original source).
You want to talk breaking the EULA? Head over to *official Minecraft partner* https://lbsg.net and then we'll talk.
it's not breaking any sort of EULA, it's merely downloading a freely available addition to the game when the game even supports this by allowing you to install stuff by clicking on the file.
And just to let you know, the only mods on Bedrock are third-party mods available on Android through custom launchers. Micro$oft arent stopping us from doing anything.
Such as Minecraft; for example, if I take the cave generator class and change it to make more and bigger caves (e.g. PC 1.12.2 with 1.6.4 caves) that is modifying the game, whereas using the built-in world customization (which can only enable or disable them) or a plugin (if there was one that could change this) is not (plugins rely on a provided interface with the core code, and do not let you change things which are not exposed, much like the world customization settings, thus making them much more limited than mods; even APIs like Forge require that you make "coremods" which directly modify the code if you want to alter existing code, which is also why I do not use it since a lot of my mods alter the base game as opposed to adding new features).

There are plenty of skins, add-on's, maps, and texture packs that are all available for free. Just do a google search and you will find thousands of them.
If you are playing on iOS, Android, or Windows 10 you can install all of these to your heart's content. Microsoft/Mojang even makes it pretty easy for you to do so, just download the file and double click on the mcworld or mcpack file and it will automatically install for you. Almost all skins that you will find online will work just as easily. Just download the skin and then in Minecraft navigate to the folder where you saved the skin file and select it.
The only people that are currently constrained to using only the marketplace in the game are the console users. Simply because there is currently no way of installing external content into the console version of the game.
Mods are a completely different story. The only version that can currently be modded is the Android version, but that's a discussion in and of itself as none of that content is even sold in the marketplace to begin with.
I am not a big fan of the marketplace myself. I have bought a few things there (some cool maps), but the majority of it is just a bunch of fluff that I'm not interested in. Yeah, there are the maps with dinosaurs and safari animals, but you could probably find a similar add-on that does the same thing for free if you do a little looking around.
Microsoft is not forcing anyone to use the marketplace, nor are they forcing developers to put their items there either. Again, the only people that currently have no other option are the console users. However, this might not be the case in the future as Microsoft/Mojang have promised that they are working on a way to at least use custom skins on the console. Hopefully this will include add-on's and world imports as well. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
Does Microsoft want you to use the store? Of course they do! They are a business just like any other. The point of a business is to make money for its investors. You don't make money by giving away everything away for free. It's up to you as the consumer to decide whether you want to purchase the content or not, nobody is forcing you to do so.

"The point of a business is to make money for its investors."
Notch (and his team) created a game "empire" worth $2BILLION by being a nice guy, making a reasonable profit, and allowing the MineCraft community to enjoy the game even more by sharing their own content for it. He didn't exploit them as Micro$oft is trying to do.
"You don't make money by giving away everything away for free."
When have I ever said that Microsoft should give Minecraft and its addons away for free? That's a ridiculous statement. You're being totally dishonest with everyone reading this thread by trying to put those words in my mouth. It's a sure sign that you've lost the debate on free distribution of mods, and Micro$oft's excessive exploitation of the MineCraft community if you're trying to be that dishonest.
I've had it with this debate. I've proved my points and there's nothing left that I need to say. If Micro$oft want to pay their employees to come on here and try to justify their unfettered capitalism then fine, let them. But in the end Micro$ofts greed will end up destroying MineCraft.

First of all, I apologize if you felt like I was putting words into your mouth. That was not my intention in the post.
Second, I don't work for Microsoft. If you are assuming that I am a Microsoft employee, then you are very mistaken.
Third, I am not a fan of the marketplace in general. I am actually less of a fan of having to purchase coins to make transactions in the marketplace. There is some free content in the marketplace, but not much at all. It would be nice if they would add more, but as everyone stated it doesn't make them any money to do so.
Is Microsoft a greedy corporation? Of course they are, but then again what business isn't? If any other business were to have purchased Mojang they would also be doing whatever they could to recoup the expenses or acquiring the company as well as doing something to cover R&D for future development and sales.
Yes, Notch built a $2.5 billion dollar business, then took the money and ran. He got pretty tired of the pressures of running a company and dealing with the demands of the users. Is he a nice guy? Looking at some of his tweets, that's up for debate.
What I was trying to get at was that unless you are using an Xbox One, there are plenty of free options out there, we just have to look for them. We are not tied to using the marketplace for everything. We don't have to pour more money into Microsoft's pockets.
Will the marketplace be the demise of Minecraft? Possibly, but as long as people keep purchasing items it's not going to go away any time soon. Thankfully there is nothing in the store (yet) that will give one player an advantage over another. If that ever happens, then it's definitely time to abandon ship.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

*Sigh* The twin cancers of capitalism and corporate control.
What do you guys even mean by "modder"?
A "modder" is somebody who modifies computer software or hardware:
Such as Minecraft; for example, if I take the cave generator class and change it to make more and bigger caves (e.g. PC 1.12.2 with 1.6.4 caves) that is modifying the game, whereas using the built-in world customization (which can only enable or disable them) or a plugin (if there was one that could change this) is not (plugins rely on a provided interface with the core code, and do not let you change things which are not exposed, much like the world customization settings, thus making them much more limited than mods; even APIs like Forge require that you make "coremods" which directly modify the code if you want to alter existing code, which is also why I do not use it since a lot of my mods alter the base game as opposed to adding new features).

welp, guess what...you can do that oh and anyway about that business thing what about non-profit organization
(also ubuntu has never gained any profit and the creator shares it for free ...)
