I think you guys should think about adding name changes into minecraft windows 10 edition. This would be so we could change our name monthly, like Java edition, without having to pay $10 every time. It would also be a lot more convenient. I hope you take time to consider this suggestion. Thanks!
Why would anyone need to change your gamer tag that often? What is the benefit of changing your gamer tag more than once?
The problem is that someone would use it as a way griefing or cheating in the game and then try hiding behind a name change. People might remember that "BadBoyGamer69" is a griefer, but they might not know that "GoodBoy70" is the same person.
The gamertags with multiple digits at the end are unpleasant and distracting, when multiple players are on screen. I understand the need for unique gamertags, but the long names clutter up the screen. The YouTube video examples of what Better Together servers are like are extremely cluttered with several thousand other players, and also in-game purchases, too crowded, too cluttered, and very unpleasant!

that is not a valid argument bc of the uuid system, if a player get banned they bed banned by the uuid system attached to the name. that way they will stay banned even after a name change. charging $10 for a name change seems unfair when most other services offer it for free, even if you're force to go through customer service. also its nice not being limited to a cringy name you made up when you were 12. also the freedom to change you name in general is great. you can even see previous names a player has had. the is no reasonable argument on why name changing is bad. however the new version of minecraft used xbox live's online service which does not have a uuid system. so adding in name changes would require using a different service entirely for online or completely reworking microsofts xbox live service, neither of which is very realistic.

Back to the original post. The OP wants to be able to change their gamer tag once a month.
I agree that there are some pretty horrific gamer tags out there, especially the ones that Xbox Live automatically generates when you sign up. I also believe that Xbox Live should allow you ONE free name change for the case of the regrettable IGN chosen in your youth, or if you accidentally accept the horrible one generated for you. Unfortunately, Xbox Live's name change policy dates back long before Minecraft was ever conceived. Essentially the policy was put into place to discourage people from changing their IGN every time the wind changes direction. You'd have to see if there is something in the FAQ's for Xbox Live to see why they discourage name changes in the first place.
I don't have a problem with people changing their IGN if they want to, or need to. I've even thought about changing mine, but it dates back to 2002 when I was a beta tester for Xbox Live before it became available on the original Xbox, and that's what everyone knows me by now. I just think that changing your name once a month is a bit excessive and serves no real purpose.
I'm not an expert at other networks. Does PlayStation Network allow name changes? If so, so they allow you to change it whenever you want and however many times you want? With the Steam Network, you are stuck with whatever name you choose when you sign up. There is no way to change your name there. If there is, I'd love to know how to do it.
