So I'm sure people have suggested more tame-able mobs many times, but I don't think many people have really expanded on the "why" and the "how". Now the way I see it, it seems like most mobs just feel threatened by your sudden appearance and existence in their world. Some, like Endermen and wolves give you a chance, others refuse to let you live. What I want is to give the player a way to connect with the mobs, not just to enslave them. How, you ask? The first step will be a splash potion called the Potion of Taming. It is crafted using a brewing stand, a Chorus Potion (water bottle and Chorus Fruit, a new base potion, no effect), and a written book. The idea is that this potion uses the ideas written into your book to connect to the enemy nearest the potion's impact point, making them neutral and incapable of despawning for 5 minutes. During this time, depending on the enemy, you can give them a certain item to "tame" them, so they choose to fight for you, similar to how wolves are tamed. A few enemies won't be tame-able at all however, Creepers come to mind due to their volatile attack. I feel like the only thing worse than a Creeper that was trying to kill you would be one that wasn't. They could simply become permanently neutral, not attacking you or other enemies, perhaps with some repellent property like that of cats. Bosses of course can't be tamed, Silverfish would lack the mental capacity, and Guardians aren't exactly meant to be on land. Also, only two enemies can be friendly at any time, and only one mob can be under the potion effect, causing any subsequent potion uses to fail. These potions won't work on anything you've attacked, for example a hostile wolf, and the effect wears off immediately if the mob is attacked while under the effect.
Ideas for taming items:
Zombie - raw porkchop 6-10
Skeleton - arrows 7-12
Spider - string 9-14
Enderman - Chorus Fruit 13-21
Blaze - Charcoal 5-15
Neutral only:
Creeper
Shulker
Guardian
Untameable:
Silverfish
Endermite
Elder Guardian
Slime
Magma Cube
Zombie Villager
Hostile Wolf
Hostile Zombie Pigman
Ghast
Wither Skeleton
Bosses

Some, like Endermen and wolves give you a chance, others refuse to let you live. What I want is to give the player a way to connect with the mobs, not just to enslave them They are pieces of code....in a virtual game...It's ridiculous enough that Turkey tried to ban Minecraft because it was "violent".How, you ask? The first step will be a splash potion called the Potion of Politics ???. It is crafted using a brewing stand, water bottle, and a written book containing at least 100 wordsThe idea is that this potion uses the ideas written into your book to connect to the enemy nearest the potion's impact point How would that work? What if I wrote in my book "Dance" 100 times and then if I splashed this on a zombie, it would connect to this mob and make it start dancing? And 100 words to write down one particular idea is a lot. making them neutral and incapable of despawning for 5 minutes. During this time, depending on the enemy, you can give them a certain item to "tame" them, so they choose to fight for you, similar to how wolves are tamed Why make hostile mobs tameable? They are hostile in the first place, and in the end, will always be hostile. . A few enemies won't be tame-able at all however, Creepers come to mind due to their volatile attack. I feel like the only thing worse than a Creeper that was trying to kill you would be one that wasn't. Responses in bold. Overall this potion is almost game-changing and OP. It has the power to bring a hostile mob neutral and even fight for the player. In the end, a player with a large number of these potions would end up making an army of hostile mobs. One big challenge in Minecraft is to survive, and how are we supposed to if this mechanic strips away the power of hostile mobs and the danger from them and even use it to fight other mobs?
A lot of people have already talked about the balance issues that exist when you have the power to essentially neuter any non-boss mob. I agree with what they said and don't feel like duplicating their responses. So I want to look at the potion itself.
The recipe is weird. I want to assume the lack of Nether Wart is an oversight and that this doesn't intentionally differ from all other potions currently in the game. Next, the book, which is weird as an ingredient. If it was a normal book I could maybe be okay with it. But not only do you need to make a book, you need to make it a written one. And you need to write 100 words in it, which can just be written like "a e i p h e a k u f j" for all we know, as long as it has 100 sets of characters separated by spaces.
It is an extremely powerful potion, but the ingredient isn't hard to get. It is tedious, sure. But more than anything it is just bizarre and arbitrary. My suggestion to improve the idea might not fly with you because it is so different, but I would make it into a potion of Confusion, that makes hostile mobs target other hostiles for a short time. Creepers might be too dangerous for this, in which case they could just go to hostiles and start their fuse, making them scatter, without actually detonating. Or you could call it making sure players don't just toss these around like idiots and make Creepers fully affected by it too.
If a player is hit with one it could make mobs appear around that player randomly that only they can see, and they do no damage and "die" in one hit, regardless of damage done. And because they are fake mobs they wouldn't drop XP or items. It fits the most basic premise of the original idea (mobs leaving a player alone and dealing with other hostiles), but without being unbalanced or having a goofy name or recipe. As for a potential recipe... Why not Popped Chorus Fruit coming in 1.9? It is end game for a strong potion, renewable, needs a Furnace, and currently only makes a decorative block.

We don't believe this post is serious either. I only ask you post something constructive.
On topic, homogenisation is generally not good game design, so no support. "This can do this so let's let everything else do it too" is not good for any game, because it makes everything feel the same.

I wholly support this idea, but not the brewing recipe. Instead, maybe have a Popped Chorus Fruit? Also, maybe make Creepers tameable, but give them a weak head-butt attack instead, and have them explode on death. Other than that, it is a wonderful idea that would definitely change survival a lot.

I like the idea, but it is a bit of a step away from my original thought. If you feel like suggesting your idea, feel free. It sounds like a pretty useful potion. With that said, I did make changes. I changed the name, the recipe no longer requires a certain amount of words, and it uses a base potion that requires a Chorus Fruit.

No support. To OP and the recipe is just plain weird. Everyone else has stated why this idea is not worthy of support, so I'll leave it at that.
