Before I start, I know others have had this idea. I find mine different enough to be its own thread, I also havn't found a thread including land, water, and air vehicles in one thread, because 1 vehicle system should handle all 3 if they ever get implemented.
Building: First things first, how do you make that neat car or tank or plane or helicoptor or boat or submarine or whatever the hell you wanna make. The concept of building the vehicle somewhere seems complicated to me as to how the interface and coding would work, so like many other vehicle threads i suggest a new "workbench" type item. (the recipe isn't important to me, but you could give suggestions.) The workspace you would get would be 3-dimensional, viewable by selecting one of the six sides to look at and then shuffling through the various layers. The amount of workspace you would get would be dependent on the amount of paper you want to spend on the blueprints. As for the actual building you would simple pick up and drop blocks into the build screen from your inventory (duh). A point on the diagram must be selected as the "placement point" which is the point that would be where you place the blueprint. blueprints would be replicable by spending th same materials. There would also be a few vehicle blocks but I'll put those at the very end, seeing as how I'll be adding to it a bit.
Movement: The whole point of vehicles. Lets look at player/boat movement, you can go up, down, forward, back, left, right, turn clockwise, and turn counter-clockwise. I was thinking w:forward, s:backward, e:right(air/sub only), q:left(air/sub only), d:turn-clockwise, a:turn counter-clockwise, z:down (air/sub only), c:up (air/sub only),
1-9 could be hotkeys for special parts/weapons on your vehicle. You would control the vehicle from a steering wheel/cockpit block. The physics for movement would be as follows, each block would have a "downward force"(natural downward force would get lower as a higher %of your vehicle became submerged in water, and mabye lava) and the sum of all blocks would determine the speed you move down at,(I know it's not realistic, but its for the benefit of gameplay.) things like propellers, jets, hover pads, etc would provide lift or "upward force", either slowing or reversing your descent. The same items place on different sides of your vehical could give side to side force as well as forward back. Larger vehicles would require more movement pieces to move. Sorry if this bit was confusing.
More in-depth Bouyancy: If a vehicle is falling in air and hits waterthe bottom layer will enter the water reducing downwad force of the entity it may or may not balance at this point, if it doesn't it will continue to sink until it stabilizes (or just sink), some people have pointed out a "fills an airtight space because it can't displace water" bug but this could be fixed, at the end of vehicle creation every empty block is filled with "air" and then every air bock not covered on all 6 sides is removed until all that's left is an air-filled vehicle, the air property would "override" the water property so to speak, just like solid material would, it would otherwise be normal empty space.
Dynamic light: ALOT of people bring this up in vehicle threads, so here's my work-around. Vehicles will NOT in any way light other objects or terrain, vehicles do light themselves, as for light affecting the vehicle this will be sort-of done, the average light in the space the vehicle occupies is applied to the top (underside remains dark). The only flaw I can see with this lighting system is vehicles won't have shadows, but then again neither do players/mobs so I guess that's fine.
Weapons: Some guns would be tradition ammo based and would have to be stocked while others would be energy based and only consume power from your vehicle, guns could be hotkeyed alone or in groups cannons or heavy guns could have cool-downs and some could be automatic and controled by holding the hotkey down, or toggled by double-tapping the hotkey.
Colors: Could b part of the potential dyeing system or part of vehical creation. Certain blocks, but not all, could be dyed, including: wool, smooth stone, wood(planks), and vehical armor. The most agrred upon dying system would be based on cultivatiing flowers, because the addition of blue would provide all three primary colors and thus all 3 secondaries, black could be coal or a black flower and white could be either snow or a white flower.
Misc: All movement components and anything else that would require it would use energy. Energy would be produced by furnaces, solar panels, etc. obviously large vehicles would use alot of energy. vehicles should be able to be set as spawn points. Once placed vehicles cannot be redeemed, damaging it will destroy that block until the entire vehicle is dead, or the vehicle can be repaired the the right materials (whatever you need to rebuild the broken parts).
Vehicle Blocks: Technically placable anywhere. ex.build a house from vehicle armor and reinforced window, or mounting guns on a base more looks or use (if they get another interface similar to the minecart/boat one).
Steering wheel-explained earlier. A diamond per vehical (min) makes sense doesn't it?
Propeller-pulls vehical toward it, less effective if touching a block (land vehicles). Can be placed in a 3x3 or a 5x5 formation to make larger (but statistically identical) propellers. Mabye make the middle iron ingot a gear if they are re-released..

Jets-push vehical away from it. Mabye rotate the crafting square, iunno.

Wing-slows descent/ascent. Allows for more ascent during forward movement. Recipe for 4 ( [] = paper)

Armored wings-heavier than wings, but more resilient. ( = vehicle armor, [] = wing)

Solar Panels- produces energy in light environments (not as much a furnaces by quite a bit though.)
Vehicle Armor-lighter and stronger than stone, otherwise identical to iron block. Recipe produces 4/8.

Reinforced vehicle armor-Same weight (mabye slightly heavier) as vehicle armor but stronger. recipe produces 4/8. ( = vehicle armor)
Battery-stores energy for massive use in a short time. ( = redstone)
Force-field Generator-Creates a shield around your vehical to protect it from light damage before damage is dealt to blocks. Would use energy to produce the shield initially and replace it as damage is taken. ( = Battery)
Wheels-move...on land...i don't think it requires further explanation...
I dont know what to use for rubber, tell me what you think, because we obviously need wheels.
Reinforced Window-clear material, more resilient to damage than glass to make combat vehicles less vulnerable. Recipe make 4/8
Cannons/guns-this is a generic idea ill put here due to the controversy over the concept. Non-energy weapons would consume no energy and possibly do more damage than their energy counter-parts, energy weapons would be more sustainable (wood burning or solar) but do less damage and drain the vehicles power reasonably, adding another strategic element.
Machine gun-Automatic vehicle mounted ammo-use gun
lazers and forcefilds are kinda out side minecraft style

he already stated he don't find high tech stuff to fit into the setting and whats more a rustic kind of tech... at most maybe early industral age like with fantasy stuff like magic and portals and foating islands

well you can make a "laser" with nothing more than a magnifying glass and the sun, hence the recipe, andthats why you could have lasers so long as they drain energy and do less damage than guns, they could just be lights mounter to ultra high focus magnifying glasses

I know there are way too many new blocks suggested here, so feel free to complain about any of them to help determine which ones suck.
Anyway that about sums it up...Please tell me what you think, comment, critique, praise, etc.

i dont believe notch has announced an exact style or them for minecraft yet... and thats why i put that as a poll option in case you didn't notice.
