I'm glad you mentioned this.
Both of what you said is true, but when you are playing on a mode like factions or skyblock (like my server) you can place them and you need them to make money.
Except they involve spawners, while a darkroom auto-flush system would be fairly cheap, and spawn all kinds of mobs.
Yes, they do involve spawners. Which as I just replied to Wesson, they have their place in the game. Maybe not in survival but definitely in other gamemodes.
You need to cover the spawners then, away from light. And instead of using all that iron for all those hoppers, why not use water to funnel them into a 2x2 drop shaft? with 4 hoppers .. and one chest.

The spawners are covered. The reason that they are glass in the video is to show you what it looks like. And why I don't use water to funnel them and one chest is because a spawner like this is meant to afk at for long periods at a time. If you were to have more than a couple spawners added it would quickly overflow.

yes you can, but this still uses hoppers and when I'm making a simple video its not meant to explain all the different ways to transfer items. For the average viewer it is easier to do it the way I did instead of me showing them on every single video how to increase their storage space.

Your average, naive viewer might have a little trouble pulling together 400 iron plus 640 wood or 160 logs in survival mode for that floor packed with hoppers. It would be better to show it being worked with appropriate amounts of resources, rather than "here's how to do it wrong."

Actually if the average viewer is playing on a skyblock world (as the tutorials are intended for) iron is readily available since cobblestone randomly generates as different resources.

That is a plugin, unfortunately. To get iron in Skyblock, you kill zombies or make an iron farm.

If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.

So what? What does your comment do anything to further the post? Very good, cobblestone doesn't magically turn into other things.
The question was how can some afford to have that kind of resources and if you are playing on a skyblock world, which is very common, you could have that ability and make it easy for you.

My point is simply that most people who could use this wouldn't have spawners. People in server Skyblock would have the resources to simply build an autoflush mob farm.

Thats true, a lot of servers don't have spawners in them. This was made for those who do have spawners, and in a world where you have the potential to get spawners and if you able to afford spawners then you are able to afford the hopper system that the spawner needs.

I don't get it - you can't place spawners in survival mode and there's no need for them in creative mode.

You can actually stack chests in a shaft going down using hoppers. The bottom chest fills first.

Hostile mob farming is a whack job.
Animal farming or auto-farms are the way to go.
I have a passive mob spawner as well if you would like to see that.
This one is for 2 block high animals (cows, sheep, etc)
This one is for 1 block high animals (pigs, rabbits, etc)

Anyhow, just giving you a hard time! Stay well.

We are hostile mobs farming, also now block farming iron or gold?
Can we use mobs as substitute to animals in auto~farming gameplay.
.. delete this please

Absolutely you can use other mobs that will help you make an iron farm, like using an automatic iron golem farm
