Good stuff. Most of it is common sense, but it's a lot more helpful when somebody lays it out for you. I literally just started, and it was mostly by accident. A friend of mine wanted me to make her a video showing what Minecraft was, and I was like "well maybe....." So this is definitely helpful, even though I don't know how far I'll take it. I just figure I love playing games, and I do it a lot, so why not share it?
I do applaud and appreciate the effort you put into this, but honestly it's all just common sense in my book. People will only want to watch what's entertaining and what they feel like they can be a part of. Low quality videos immediately turn me away, usually it's static in the audio or low resolution and/or badly compressed video. I can't get immersed in that and I certainly won't listen to the person talking. Get a decent recording program (certainly not a free one!) and a good mic. A lot of the smaller channels I know have black bars all around the video because they have to select the area to record and they're too lazy to crop it off to a proper resolution, and it's just annoying.
Also, for your videos I suggest upping the quality to at least 720p, a lot of people turn their noses up at anything that YouTube doesn't label HD.
With all due respect, I completely disagree with this. It takes a long time for someone like me with a 0.3mbps upload speed to upload 20-30 minute videos in 720p. Time spent uploading is time that could be spent playing. Sure, a singleplayer LP could be worked on while uploading something, but for someone like me whose primary series is an SMP LP, they can't play and upload at the same time because uploading is such a bandwidth hog (at least for my crappy internet connection). Typically I upload overnight, so maybe someday I will upgrade to 720p.

Of course it is all common sense. There is no REAL overnight way of getting big. It's all just pointers and tips that really couldn't hurt you for watching.
I agree with you on everything you said. I personally don't watch any videos at all in hd. ITS MINECRAFT lol. jk but i have to constantly buffer when i do. But also, There are those people that it wouldn't hurt to cater to on the subject. The more people you please the odds are the more subs you are going to get.
