Hey everyone, some major changes done to enchanting in the snapshot!! This video covers what appears to be most of the changes (as of 14w02b)! Hope you guys find it helpful...also do you like or dislike the changes?
Jeb, since he has started, likes to add cool features but make everything too easy. Added sprinting, blocking, overworld dungeons that give you tons of loot..
In this case, he made it where enchanting costs nothing (it was already easy to enchant because the system is linear until lv30 and didn't require a mob grinder because you could enchant books with lv1 enchants and combine). He also made it where you can't use a tool indefinitely(repair cost rises) and made naming useless. He essentially destroyed it.

Yet he decides to add The Wither, witches, buff skeletons, mass zombie duplication, healing/regen nerfs, etc.

Enchanting costs lapis, which you can get as a rare ore underground or by trading with one of the new villagers, which is also rather slow and time consuming. This could very well slow enchanting down a bit at the start of a survival world.
And the level system is not linear until level 30, at least it wasn't in 1.7 and earlier, only the first 15 or 16 levels were linear, after that the cost starts growing per level, and the increase becomes even more dramatic after level 30. I don't think that behaviour has changed.
Yet he decides to add The Wither, witches, buff skeletons, mass zombie duplication, healing/regen nerfs, etc.
I am going to agree with you, for every thing he makes easier he makes several other aspects harder. He may be preparing for a big update soon that...changes the way we survive in minecraft! Interesting to think of at least.

It's still a chore to get to level 30 and to find the materials to repair. I am in full support of where minecraft is going. And I'm betting on a big mob update soon with some cool new hard mode goals.
