I used the Tickrate Changer mod to change the game tick rate to 120 ticks per second (default is 20 TPS), and recorded the game for 25 minutes. Then I sped up the video by 30x in an external editor.
The crop used were potatoes (so they can be replanted without completely clogging up the inventory, unlike wheat), and the top of the grid is facing west. Note how the villager almost always moves in a north-south (horizontal) direction, and is biased in the eastern (bottom) direction when running into obstacles.
