So are you running the server install off the FTB launcher? Just go to the options tab if so, and slide up the memory slider. Be sure you have enough physical RAM installed and available on your machine so it doesn't go to the swapfile to store stuff. Memory swapping is bad because that involves the disk, which is slow.
If you're talking about installing more RAM chips in the physical server, that's something that requires you to open the case of the machine. I'm not going to describe it here.

Is anyone else experiencing super fps and keyboard/mouse lag spikes? My computer (which can run nearly anything) gets about 100-150 fps all the time, except every ten or twenty seconds I get an enormous FPS spike that lasts a split second (but which has already killed me several times). These lag spikes persist even on a superflat test world I made, which literally has nothing in it. Any help please?

"Lag of death" is the term for it. The vanilla game saves world state often. Optifine reduces this problem by saving world state less often.

This can also happen if you've jumped between dimensions often in 1 play session. Vanilla minecraft has a memory leak (bounce between the nether and overworld multiple times using a nether portal, and watch your memory usage in the top right of your F3 screen). Its much more noticeable with how easy Mystcraft makes dimension hopping, but is actually a Vanilla problem.
Closing minecraft and reopening will resolve it, if thats your issue. It might be something entirely different....
I've been noticing something about the Thermal Expansion ore distribution: whenever you find silver, you will often find lead. The two seem to generate together quite a lot.

That's very true in the real world, too. And as I've played the FTB Beta pack, I've noticed that Factorization's silver is found in rare but huge veins, that produce lead when you smelt it in the slag furnace. Also fairly true to the real world. I like those touches, even if vanilla Minecraftia is much more like a cartoon than it is realistic about anything.

Hrm. So with 5x14, anyone know if there is a fix for the EnderStorage bug where inventories between overworld/nether can get wiped depending on where you save? I have lost 3 stacks of cans so far....
Yeah thats all i got. Im not a pro Minecrafter, but if those little tips help anyone, then its worth it.
A fence around my door sounds like a great idea. Mobs keep coming up the hill to annoy me.
I'd also suggest putting torches or other lighting on your roof to keep spiders from spawning up there. Maybe some netherrack on fire, depending on the aesthetic you're going for.

I think I have found the perfect building materials for my house. I mined out about 12 stacks worth of red cobblestone from a Mountain Ridge biome, and will be using redwood planks for the floors and interior walls. The red cobblestone I smelted and turned into bricks. Far easier than searching for clay, which I would rather save for other uses.
Also while exploring recently I came upon another Thaumcraft mini dungeon. I found some decent loot in the chests at the bottom, though the Dark Aura node there had a bit of a surprise for me - it spawned a Wisp when I opened the first chest, and it began attacking me with lightning bolts.
Edit: the previous poster mentioned that you could get tool enchantments on IC2 powered tools. I tried to see what I could get on the Nanosaber, and it is the same with the other tools. I am not sure it really matters that much or if a Fortune III on the Diamond Drill would work like a pickaxe with the same enchantment. I carry my Ruby one with this enchantment on it when I go looking for diamonds. I also use it for coal, lapis, redstone and nikolite. I'm not sure if it will work with Vis infused ore; it doesn't work on Amber or Uranium ore, but does work on Redpower2 gems.
My Golden Conductive pipes between my Thermal Expansion Steam Engines exploded just now. I had them connected together and only the last engine was connected to the machines. I had been running 2 Pulverizers and 2 Powered Furnaces without incident, then went to shut down the engines. Shortly afterward I decided to power them on again and began running my Sawmill. That's when the pipes exploded.
Hi I want to create a server like forgecraft (without betas) for me and my friends is there any way you(or someone else ) can tell me what mods you have installed I've looked but the only list I've found is the one for season 3!
edit: I love season 4 SMP
edit2: I'm not making a modpack I will link to the modders thread!
edit3: You don't need to link me to the thread I can find them myself

Was I doing something wrong with my hookup here?
Buildcraft has always had a problem with looped energy pipes, where one feeds another. I would suggest making sure that there are no loops in your BC power pipes. Also, you can see the energy "beams" getting thicker as the pipes fill with unused energy. I would suggest that if you aren't losing power while you're running your machines, then you don't need to run your engines right away. Also, I believe that TE's redstone energy conduits don't explode, they just stop accepting power.

Conduits don't even have to output to a machine they touch unless you tell them to. They're pretty convenient, though a lot more complicated to make . . .

I'd heard Krapht had reappeared and was making an updated version. Is that his version, or the one on Github?

Enchant the diamond drill with unbreaking III. Never runs out of energy!
