GUYS listen i have used every possible way to record my minecraft gameplay (excluding capture cards) and i still get LAG!!! I have a good computer, when i run minecraft without recording i get 70 fps but when i record i get 20 FPS!!! HEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP anyone. and i want to ask something:
:
HOW DO YOUTUBERS GET 300 FPS WHILE THEY ARE RECORDING???????
Cause they have computers worth thousands of dollars. I usually get around 170 FPS normally, although when I record I can't get higher than 40-45. Recording games, especially Minecraft is very resource demanding. Honestly the only thing you can really do is upgrade your PC.
Hey check this guys channel his name is omgcraft he has some videos that will tell you how to record minecraft i try to tell them to you but didnt work and you say you have a computer do you do intros
Tell us more information, your computer may sound very good for you, but it might sound old in now days. and with recording 20 fps, i will assume you don't have a very great computer, however, as V3sulo stated apove, they have very good computers.
so you have these choices:
1- Get optifine (A great mod for boosting your fps in minecraft)
2-Lower your settings
3- Lower your resolution (For example instead of playing and recording minecraft in 1080p (1920x1080), try to play it at 720p (1280x720).)
Plus, you wouldn't need much fps for the recording to be smooth, you actually need 30 fps for smooth recording..
Something to look into if you do have a gaming pc is Intel Quick Sync in OBS. It uses your Intel based graphics to record. It can be difficult to set up depending on your computer or how much tec knowledge you have.
The simple way to gain more fps when recording is to turn down the resoultion. 720p 60fps is close to 1080p 30fps in how hard it is on your computer.
BOY i will tell you the specs k? it is not a pc it is a laptop and it is not for gaming and it is 5th gen. I have optifine. I have lowered my settings it did only change 3 fps. I run on 1366 x 768.

AND BY THE WAY I HAVE A YOUTUBE CHANNEL CALLED "s6sticks". THX
- enable unlimited fps (always do this while recording, if your machine is not the best!)
- in the launcher, make sure you have enough RAM dedicated to Java, but not too much! Too less RAM results in frequent micro-freezes, but 2GB of RAM should be enough. It's not good to use too much RAM, as well!
- use Optifine and tweak it the way it is best for your machine
(- as a last resort: lower the fullscreen resolution of your game with Optifine)
In the program:
- lower quality (85 is already quite decent and higher values do result in less fps)
- lower the resoltion and frame rate (720p and 30 fps are already good for Youtube)
- and finally, make sure the DirectX/OpenGL recording mode is enabled
But don't lower everything directly, try around a bit so you find out what's the best possible quality you can achieve.
Furthermore, turn up the ingame brightness so the videos don't get too dark. I hope this helps! Please report your results.

Am I allowed to recommend a certain recording program here? It's free and it really gave me very good results, out of all the programs I tried.
I get around 100 FPS ingame without recording and with this program I was able to record at 60 fps with native resolution and good quality!
At 720p/30fps I still get 80 fps! The only problem is that the videos are a bit darker than the original gameplay.
But all in all I was stunned by the performance of this program!

Okay, so the program is called Loilo Game Recorder, you can download it here:

Some tips to get more performance.
Ingame:
- lower render distance (this has a huge impact!)
- enable fast graphics
- enable unlimited fps (always do this while recording, if your machine is not the best!)
- in the launcher, make sure you have enough RAM dedicated to Java, but not too much! Too less RAM results in frequent micro-freezes, but 2GB of RAM should be enough. It's not good to use too much RAM, as well!
