Does anyone else spend a large amount of time editing their videos? I for one haven't been doing youtube long, and I find it hard to push out videos consistently every week. I for one try to spend at least 2-3 hours every day, but there are so many factors for making one video (recording, replay recording, voice recording, visual making, video/audio editing, music/sound compilation, thumbnail design). Working 40 hour weeks makes it hard to me to finalize and edit even one video per week. However, due to the nature of my content there is no way around that.
At any rate, I never quite realized all the time and effort it takes to run a channel till now. Is it really worth it?
I'm just going to answer my own question with, yes, it is worth it. If you want your channel to succeed in any way, you have to put time into it.
But I want to hear your thoughts. How do you manage your time with real life and the youtuber life?

Well, I'll be honest it isn't easy! I'm a university student studying Business Administration and Computer Science. Not to mention all the clubs I participate in. One of the main ways I manage is I sleep a lot less than I probably should. It's not the healthiest option....but it works for me! Another thing I do is make sure to schedule time for all my YouTube endeavors.
Another helpful aspect is my various friends who assist me. I've got animators, voice actors, and writers who help me out occasionally! YouTube becomes a whole less stressful when you can get off your computer knowing that friends of yours are helping out. It's really neat how a lot people are willing to help others out. However, it's also content specific. There are some videos that no one can really help you with.
Either way, like you, I believe it's 100% worth it! I'm happy to put all the time in the world into watching my dreams come true.
Depends on the content, if builds and mini games like I just briefly checked, I'd say the gameplay matters. But taking time with thumbnails, editing and so on is tough even though I personally don't do it because I don't have such skills, knowledge or know of many programs for such things.
I am a Let's Play/Mod spotlighter (with very limited skills I know) but also makes my own music (not really but experimenting in a program more so than an artist would do with better music program so an experimenter really) myself so differences with your content from mine of course is obvious.
But I did an ok job with gameplay focus (especially mod spotlight researching) (even for my recording limitations of knowledge and learning as I went) I'd have a focus, or just doing anything I was planning, cut at times and do yes in most people's case a lot of recording and cutting which doesn't look good but I was very basic so I'm not the best to give such advise.
But prioritising youtube and IRL is hard, I didn't have much problems at the start (but my decline was IRL people so that few months wasn't bad for my brief youtubing time) but I'd say if you up for weekends relaxing maybe is the best for such video making/editing or short sessions if free time is a long one from your IRL time.
Nowadays even though I do have study I do try to balance when I do that and gaming (my youtube videos as a reminder I did it but haven't bothered in a while, still bothers me at times, but reminds me of the time I had with it), since I have fewer friends due to IRL stuff and times changing. But I used to do it a lot more, recording almost half a survival series in many hours because of the time I had, not a good idea, but that happened at times. Take from that as bad or just too much gaming, I don't mind how you see it. But your time seems very limited which is sad, I would almost have been in the same position and could have related better but sadly studying came instead of such hours. But sleep was bad for me at night uploads and thinking about every night uploads was not ideal. Also as a one person show it was a realisation to say the least. XD
I guess it depends on scheduling of effort, whether that be recording, editing, uploading dates and so on. Once a week or twice, balance anything IRL or hobby like. I'm not good with advise like this obviously, but good luck working out how you can get the most out of your time.
