I got confused several times when you said spear-time. It's spelled spare, you should fix that
And.... you can animate it. Besides, the idea of a horde of monsters attacking steve has been done tons of times. Try to be more original. Hope the constructive critisizm helped.

Yeah thanks for constructive critisizm! Sorry, I'm actually Norwegian so - but I'll fix the misspellings... I know that the start of the story is a pretty common Minecraft animation story, but it's just the start of it. The story will start with a bit of the main-action, then go back to the world-generation and build the story all the way up to the main-action, then solve the problem in the main-action. It does probably sound confusing when I'm telling it, but it's been used in a lot of movies before - It's only the start of the movie (that's a part of the main-action) that has been planned (about 20 seconds), nothing is completely written yet or stated. It's just to give a teaser And yes it will be animated, recording it in Minecraft wouldn't give a lot of opportunities
I have something that can finance a part of the production (for the costs of soundtracks, voicing equipment, etc.). A Norwegian fund organization by the government can give us about $3000 to loan equipment and to buy material for the project, but they say we need more people involved in the project, so join it!
So we've planned the official start for the project. The production will start the 18th of May, we will need the writer, the scripters, the organizer and the assistants hired from the start. One week later we need all of the positions from the running-production to be furfilled.
You want this to be a fully animated film, in full length which is about 1hour 30 minutes? You a crazy fool! Making an episodes of simpsons takes a full team of proffesionals months to do, attempting to make a full length by a group of amatures would take months! Using blender will just make it even worse, to make this film it will months to just make the rigs, then the set which will take about a month and even longer to animate the whole thing! I say your crazy!
Hi, I can understand you see this kind of crazy! But dont worry, we got proffessionals and we know it'll take us about 1 - 2 years or so. It won't be an easy task, and we're pretty aware of that. The rigs won't take months, I know Blender pretty much myself and I made a complete rig within a month, with more people that knows Blender it will take three weeks or so. It just requires intensive working in peoples sparetime
People IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE! It took the producers of "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" 2 years, + some extra months to produce the movie. And it took them another 2 years before that again to rewrite the book into scripts, plan the production, finance the production. etc. About 5 years in all! And this little production of a 01:30:00 movie will only take about 1 and a half, hopefully it'll give great results. TH: AUJ is 02:40:00 or so, and it's produced IRL - which takes way more time when you need the surroundings they had in their movie. I am professional and we will have more professionals, amateurs doesn't mean stupid - it only means that you're not educated in the subject. C'mon There's no commitment, you can leave whenever you want! :DIf you want to see our plan / status / calendar add this calendar into your calendar feed: [email protected]
Ahem, people weren't as excited as I thought, so I'll guess I have to go ask different people in personal to get them with me (at least if I want to get it happen). 50 people, some job I have in front of me! Well just apply if you wanna join, I'll check all applications daily!
I woudn't say you are too crazy. I think it's possible at least. And it's about time to film a movie for theaters in a minecraft world. At least you sound much more serous than the guy who wanted to remake the hobbit in minecraft.
But what is missing here as well: show the guys that you are kind of professional. Show some videos you've done so far. Doesn't matter if minecraft or animated, But something? Till now we just have to trust you are good in this stuff and that you are convinced you have the skills.
If you need a set: I'd suggest show us an example of the way you build. Or your team you have so far. And so on and so on...
I'm sorry, I can't. All I made is copyrighted by the TV channel it's made for. I'd be fired if I gave what I made to you. I can't show'em to you, but I can tell about'em.
One of the productions was a TV program that looks a lot like The Amazing Race. There was 2 teams that had to get through Norway with different physical methods like biking, running, skiing, etc. This for children and by children (as the competitors). I was the director in this production. This was lately and the last episode was sent on TV just a week ago (unfortunately on a TV channel that's only reachable for Norwegians). It wasn't very big, we filmed it with 4 cameraes and a lot of GoPros. It was not a live production, so it was edited in arrear.
Another production I've been a part was a TV show, in a studio. Also for children. There were 3 hosts, where 2 of them were teenagers. The show was about navigating, pretty special subject - but it's quite good. And again, unfortunately on a TV channel that's only reachable for Norwegians. Here I was the picture-producer, we we're using an OB bus, with 8 cameraes - 1 of them a crane. The picture-producer is the person that puts all cameraes together to make a coherent show, live - so almost none editing was done in arrear. This was about a year ago.
I've been apart of a lot of reportages for a newscast, where leading the reportages
The reason I want to start this project in my sparetime is because for the next 2 years my job will consist of assisting the other directors and producers with their projects - since there's so many projects running, the TV channel can't afford having another one running. None new for at least 2 years. And I don't find that very interesting Leading your own project is much more interesting! I like being busy all the time - and I won't be that in these projects, because I can do the tasks at daytime (regular working-time).
I'm really sorry I can't show you anything,
The feeling of seeing something you've made or been a part of being sent on TV or in the theaters is a great feeling! To see the results of your work, to see people enjoying the results and to see the results being amazing. To be done with the project! All those are fantastic feelings you should all try to experience!
One thing that has to be made clear! I've never animated any production, and never been a part of any production with animation. Though I've played a bit with Blender - so I know the basics of it. I've learned how a movie should be built up and how animations should be built up. The first time won't be an easy task, but we'll get through it and I think we'll make an awesome movie!
I'll make a sample of how the production goes. Sorry, but currently it's only me in the project None has applied yet! But I'm instantly trying to get a co-producer or a director
1. Pre-production:
- The story gets written
- The story gets written into a script
2. Running-production:
- (In this case) the rig designer makes the rig from the descriptions of all scenes in the script so everything that’s needed is in the rig
- The animators animates from the descriptions in the script
o The scripters has divided all scenes into 2 categories
§ Easy scene, this will be done by animators that likes doing quick and easy scenes
§ Advanced scene, this will be done by animators that likes putting more time and effort to every scene
- The voice actors records the sound to the movie, by following the script
- The graphic artist makes logos, vignettes, etc. (everything that’s needed in the movie or for showing of the movie)
- The sound artist makes music for the movie, by following the moods described in the script
3. Post-production
- The editors puts all scenes, music, sound, logos, vignettes, etc. and make them into a movie, by following the story in the script
o The editors has 2 stages in editing the movie
§ Roughcut, puts all things roughly together to make the progress of the story in the movie
§ Master, corrects every part of the movie with sound, colours, slips, etc.
§ We will have editors for both of the stages, so none editor needs to do both of the stages
- The graphic artists makes all effects for the movie and does all special colour, keying or sound corrections in the movie
In while the production is going on; all assistants, organizers, technical operation managers, producers, directors, media & press managers, etc. does their tasks and help with the production
And after all this we have a result. Budgets, financing, planning, distribution, etc. will be planned or done in while the production is going on or after we have the result of the production / the movie.
Voice acting may have to be done after the editors has put the movie together, at least the roughcut of it - so they can see what to act. May or may not, most likely. Then the editor that masters it has to put the voicing on afterwards.
Very rough one, everything I could think of on the move. But I've set deadlines, events, etc. in the calendar I shared if you want to see how the progress will be, thinking of dates.
You are aware that Minecraft is a copyrighted name by Mojang and you cannot use the name for a commercial project and you would actually have to contact Mojang in order to get a legal permission to make this feature length project ? It doesen't seem very serious to me, but if you're actually trying to do it I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to see it
And.... you can animate it. Besides, the idea of a horde of monsters attacking steve has been done tons of times. Try to be more original. Hope the constructive critisizm helped.
