Since a month or so, I have started in a SMP and started what for me personally has been the BIGGEST project I've ever done. I've had a long break from Minecraft and now returned to it with alot of passion.
I've created what is now quite the empty canvas but this is going to so enormous, that I would love to share the progress behind it. Also through video, but I think it'd be cool to also post a blog in here with updates once in a while! Please keep in mind, I'm not the best builder. I just love sharing this kind of stuff and of course, feedback and decoration ideas are surely more then welcome!
The Sword of Na'Arth
Ages ago, an enormous mystic ancient sword was found in a underground temple. The civilization that lived nearby took the temple under it's wing as it possessed some sort of power. A bright blue light that came from the centre. To protect the energy that the sword, the civilization started building it's roots around the temple for it to become a key point of the town. Hoping that one day, the creature that owned the sword would return and reward the civilization with diamonds, gold and other minerals.
The First Steps
To start off this build, I needed to start with an entrance. How big am I going to make this thing? I was in front of a massive task, being fresh in my world I started creating an entrance. I decided it had to be a very big entrance going downwards where you'd enter a massive room where you would find the sword. In creative, I tested out on making two side pillars. For now this looked good, tried some work on the surroundings so it would fit. Maybe an archway or something on top would look good. Maybe I need to really dig in the towers into the mountain.
SO MUCH MINING! Okay, maybe I underestimated how much work this was going to be. BUT HOW COOL IS THIS!
I wanted a sphere like centre room, oval maybe?
Oval is the right shape, 100 blocks long, 70 wide. Okay, but who is going to mine this whole thing? I sure am. Got my hands on a beacon and there I went on a voyage. Mining a whopping ONE-HUNDRED-AND-TWENTY-ONE-THOUSAND blocks (Can you see me get more excited to reveal this as I'm writing this?) Yes. The space was enormous, it took me around 12 to 15 hours to clear this whole thing. And oh boy did it look good.
Believe me, when I say I had alot of stone. I think I had about 25 double chests full of stone (Thank god I had a Silk Touch pickaxe) At least.. for the biggest part. Working with two pickaxes this was one of the biggest digging projects I've ever done. To take a chill I decided to make a chest area, after all. This would be my base aswell, with some lore around it.
Now, to make a center piece we still needed to dig down more as this sword was going to be huge. ANOTHER DIGGING PROJECT!
Being underground basically on this scale anything that I would want to create involves a digging session. So we did! Another more (hopefully) organic oval shape in the middle that I will later terraform was created. And so the Sword of Na'Arth came to life in all it's glory.
-Terraform the inner oval.
-Create a inner river around the sword.
-Hidden farms for survival purposes.
-Decorate the whole thing
-Create corridors left and right for future projects.
Made quite the update today! Worked on terraforming the sides aswell as creating a river on the inner circle. Lit it up. Also thinking about ideas for the roofing. Wanna make a pathway on the side aswell and created a hidden automatic sugarcane farm!
