I want some advice to help me improve this build! Not happy how it turned out but I can't think of anything to help it. Is it a hopeless case?

Looks pretty good, though I am not sure of its purpose.
One really easy way to make things look fancier is just to add layers to it. For that build you can just bring the log columns out one block, so they're not inside the building. Also make the roof go all the way round the edge, like you want to stop rain falling on people who lean against the wall

Discipline, Pride, and Courage. A dangerous combination.
It would help a bit more if we knew what the build was supposed to be.
It needs more of a variety of blocks used. Try using stone slabs instead of logs going horizontal under the fence gates. Make it go ALL the way around. Don't skip it because of the pillars.
Try extending the roof our a bit more. More slabs extending from the roof in a downward fashion.
Those stone bricks at the bottom could be replaced with cobble for even more variety. Cobble looks nice with oak logs. Even better, use cobble stairs to give more depth to the build.
And of course, the one thing that completes off the build is the interior. A complete nice looking interior makes a person actually want to go inside the house instead of staring at it from the outside.

Not bad; I see you are already doing well with the detailing. The basic shape, though, could use some work. Right now it's a simple block, but you could add different sections. Try experimenting with different-shaped rooms (circle, square, octagon), roofs at different height, and towers to break it up. You'll also find out that you may not need to add more colors or details, as a more interesting shape might add enough variation.
