That can certainly be arranged, but it might take a while. I want it to be perfect and i'm struggling with some very complicated roof parts, which will never be perfect, but i make them as best as i can. The problem is that i don't really plan the whole thing in advance.
Anyway, a little update. I did a gallery and i'm now finishing the side builds and towers on the inside. I'm not sure this is how it's going to be, things chance sometimes...
I managed to build a little spiral stairs in the corner wall up the towers. I know those cathedrals always had the stairs inside pillars and walls to keep as much open space inside as possible. From the tower you can walk all the way round the outer wall through the gallery to the next tower.
I totally see what you mean. I tried an angle with one stairblock and one plank, but it got far too big, there was just too much roof. But you're absolutely right, it should be steeper.
I also got a long way to go before i can build a cathedral like you did. Your Chartres is by far the best i've seen being build in mc! All your other stuff is amazing too! I've been playing mc for less than a year, and i can learn a lot from builders like yourself!
Ok, i see. That makes sense.
Well done on your map! Sounds and looks good. I don't think i can give you anymore advice about a texture pack that you haven't already researched or received. I'm still a somewhat of a mc noob myself and i haven't figured out how to make or customize texture packs, so i just looked one up i thought looked cool and used it.
This is so incredibly useful, and is made well enough that people can actually use it!
Thanks
Today's update:
I made a simple landscape in world painter (of which you don't see much of here unfortunetaly) and started on a yard/court/garden (what's the right word?) I'm probably going to build some additional buildings around it like a residence for the 'church staff' (lol) Priest/bishop whatever. Also some nice cozy gardens.
Decorated the floor a bit more:
Made an altar:
Started a crypt (which going to be a fairly big area under the cathedral):
Hey, bit of a weird question, I guess, but I'm I'm trying to immitate this on a server I go on! I was wondering if I could, and maybe if you could give some measurements, like height and stuff?

Yeah, sure, no broblem! I'm going to make it available for download, but i have to finish the crypt first and keep on seeing stuff i can approve, so it will take a little longer. In the mean time, hope this helps:
First of all, I think this is a very good build, something to point to when people speak of cathedrals in Minecraft. It is your careful attention to details that make all the difference. I build a much smaller cathedral in survival once, and think you made a much better job of it.
Secondly, I hugely applaud post #36. The pictures of structural elements are very good, and help other builders being able to get inspiration instead of just copying. From my own experience I remember the difficulties in getting the basic architecture right, wasting a lot of graph paper in the process.
Weird, both files seem to be removed from filedropper, i'll have to upload them again. I won't be able to do this in the first couple of days as i'm abroad, i'll be back home on monday. Hold on.
hey umm this thread is probably dead but the schematic still isnt working and i was wondering if it would be possible to re upload it....im trying to replicate this build on my friends FTB server.
this is absolutely mental.... I cannot clap you enough for this beautiful work. Spend already weeks on this on Nintendo switch in survival mode trying to build this and still not even 40% done.
But if I am already working hard to copy your work and figure out parts from those pixelated and sketched from perspective pics, I cannot imagine how much work you had to do to put this all together... Registered here just to let you know that 7 years later there's someone still admiring this!
I eventually managed to finish building it on bedrock and recently I used Structura to create resource pack with this structure. actually 3 resource packs as the steucture is too big for 1. If you want to build it on BE I can share them
I would like to get a download once it's ready.

Why not?

The stairs are inside this corner:
Here's the entrance from the inside:
The bell up in the tower:
You can also reach the attic from the tower:
