Really enjoyed the guided tour and the attention to detail, it made it feel like a real walk around a working ship. Hope you have some sampled engine sounds, thrumming in the background, along with a bunch of creaks and clanks.
It also made me think I should make a set of 'airship specific' villagers sometime (I'll make a note of that). As you're more of an expert in this area, if you have any ideas of the sort of uniforms you'd like to see bustling about one of your ships, drop me some pics as reference...or not, if you think it's a daft idea!
How many hours total from start to finish did it take, and what's the next project?
Sounds like a great idea, the airship specific villagers, here a few pics i found on my old friend Google images for crew, captains officers....
my next immediate project is to build a aeroport around my ships and add to it as fancy strikes me. as for ships i plan to build the city-ship Icarus next. if you thought my first two were big just wait till you see what i have in store for the Icarus.
For the sounds just go into the engine room and flick the levers. they each activate a redstone clock hooked up to a mess of pistons all firing randomly, so you get quite a cacophony of noise. As for total hours about 48 here and there.

Thanks for the pics. I'll keep an eye out for some others as well. If I get round to the uniformed villagers, my advice for using them on your ships, if the fancy took you, would be to fill the villager slots with more uniformed crew than officers, then when you come to spawn them, they will appear in the right ratio of officers to crew. With five different villagers and possibly an alternative 'witch' officer, you'd be able to populate those types with the right proportion of crew ranks.
Amusingly however, I've found that when you spawn villagers high up on buildings they have this tendency to leap to their deaths after death defying tightrope antics on railings and such! It might provide for some amusing film footage of the crew abandoning ship!
I love what you've done with the levers remotely controlling masses of pistons for engine noises! after making my 'difference' engine and doing much the same thing, I always had ambitions to do the same as you've done for battleships and factories, etc. It would be even better if mojang added 'sound' blocks which you could hook up to redstone. The 'sounds' being your own imported samples. Then your ships would really come alive with strategically placed pressure plates activating appropriate ambient sounds as you walk around. We can dream!
I'm looking forward to seeing the aeroport and the icarus.
I love your air ships asikar, please make a airship with more tnt cannons
right now i'm building an aeroport around my ships with several smaller ships docked with the Undaunted and Harbinger. my next ship will be the great city-ship Icarus.
I plan to put the upper level all around each ship along with various cranes and walkways.
This is the beginnings of my docking tower, the central hub of my aeroport Smaller ships can dock at one of two docking rings, (I only have the first one though), and to get up and down the tower I have piston elevators running up and down the whole thing. At the top, I plan to put a revolving lighthouse using redstone lamps, because every port needs a lighthouse.

Haha! You certainly like making things big, asikar! Looking good, mate.
Also looking forward to seeing the revolving lighthouse...hope you might be able to make a vid of that.
So you actually fly these things with the Zeppelin Mod?
Yes I've flown these with Zeppelin mod. I converted the world back to 1.2.5 to test that all the turrets can rotate properly, and that the planes take off. The Ships do fly but I recommend against it due to the fact that the Harbinger, the smaller of the two, was over 15000 blocks and pretty near froze my computer when i activated the ship. Not to mention that i had to be on tiny render distance and the ship moved about 1 block every 5 seconds.
The ratio of airship-to-ballonthingythatholdstheheliumorwhatever is screwed way too much is favor of airship I also extremely dislike the fact that such large ships that have such small ballonthingythatholdstheheliumorwhatevers are made mostly of iron blocks (?) plus there is the fact that they are placed in the bottom would make them extremely top heavy and likely to capsize.

As far as steampunk is concerned, they bend the laws of physics to make them possible anyway, so capsizing is not an issue. As for the small Gasbags, they are filed with a gas that has more lifting power than helium or hydrogen, only exclusive to this world's military. As the gas is far too expensive for civilians to produce their ships are confined to use hydrogen or helium.

OK, will fix soon.
try it again, should work now

Be sure to leave a comment/give feedback about my ships.
next is the great city-ship Icarus and my port city.

I plan on getting fraps before too long Should be some vids after i get the docking tower finished.

Yes i did put a lighthouse on top.
I wrote a book! Check it out here: https://www.blackrosewriting.com/scififantasy/harrani

Wait for time
In the break of new dawn
We will never meet
