Here is my first build of this scale, a Hail Storm class heavy destroyer, the HMS Undaunted; her armament includes 10 total TNT cannons, four main guns, three Scatter-guns on each side, and a total of 12 light cannons. The main turrets have a 100+ block effective range, and the port and starboard scatter-guns have a 34 block effective range. She is a whopping 115 blocks long from stem to stern, 29 blocks at her widest, and 53 blocks tall from the keel to the top of the mast.
Here is the 360 view of the outside. Here is one of the main guns, I was going for a Rail-gun look.To see the inside check out the video tour.Hope you enjoyed. Comments and feedback are welcome.
Here is my second build of this size, the Thunderhead class light carrier. The one on the left is Variant 1, HMS Harbinger, and the one on the right is the HMS Surinam. The harbinger's specs are as follows. She is a full ten blocks longer than the Undaunted at 121 blocks long, she is 36 blocks tall from her keel to the top of the radio antenna, and she is 32 blocks wide at the widest. She was based on the Japanese carrier Kaga in WW II and was designed to be more sleek and aerodynamic than the Undaunted. As carrier support is key to any naval battle, whether air or sea, she has 14 total light cannons and 2 scatter-guns at the base of the towers to defend herself if necessary. This variant of the Thunderhead class light carrier can carry up to 3 light attack gunboats. My other variant can carry 4 light attack gunboats. In the picture you see both variants of the Thunderhead class.
Here is the complete 360 view of the HarbingerTo see the inside of the harbinger and Surinam check out the video tourHope you enjoyed. Again, comments and feedback are always welcome.
Here is my dreadnought class light attack ship, christened, the HMS Stratica. These models should have been retired long ago but for some reason they just keep cropping up. These old ships are built sturdy and made to last long years without service overhauls, making them especially popular with mercenaries and pirates. Their only downside is that they have a weak spot, just between the gas cells in the stern. One clean shot and it disables the boiler, crippling the ship. Other than that one weak spot, they can take quite a beating, and they can dish one out too. Having 5 light turrets on the upper deck, and one double turret for the belly gun. The main weapon; however, might be the reason they are still in service. They have quite a scatter-gun mounted on the bow. After the first one was commissioned the gun/ship combo could never quite be repeated. Anyway, here is the tour, starting with the outside as usual.
Here is the front mounted scatter-gun, unlike the ones on my other ships this one fires 6 rounds instead of 3.For a better look at the Stratica check out the video tour. (beginning to sound like a broken record )Hope you enjoyed. Comments and feedback are always welcome.
This makes for my biggest build so far, the Great City-ship Icarus. She is around 500 blocks long and 200 blocks wide at the midsection, and around 150 blocks tall. The only one of her kind, commissioned as a free city-state, separate from national boundaries, able to travel anywhere throughout the globe. Upon her christening people will flock to her for a new life among the clouds their only obligation being to travel the world and care for their beloved city. She is about 70% complete, so don't get too exited for launch.
Here is the Pirate vessel Chimera. Built in secret at the navy bone-yard in New Brummel by a band of foolhardy bandits, this vessel packs a surprising punch. With four single light cannons on the deck two double light cannons on the deck, two double light cannons on her belly and the most powerful gun on the ship being a stripped down destroyer turret right on her bow. These pirates either new what they were doing or they were just plain lucky the ship didn't fall apart from under their heels during takeoff. According to eyewitness accounts the ship lifted off from the bone-yard and outran the navy warships sent after her. Probably according to the battleship turbine strapped to her stern...
Here is the 360 view of the outside. For the full video tour click on the link:
Now for something a little bit different, a civilian cargo freighter, the R-37 Air-train. Air-trains are named by taking the name of the engine, in this case the Argon Mist, and attaching the number of "cars" they pull to the name. Making this particular air-train the Argon Mist 3. Here are the specs on the ship, the engine is 28 blocks long, 22 blocks wide, and 15 blocks high. This engine has two boilers and four engine pods; however, their are other engines with as many as four boilers and eight total engine pods. Now the cars are standard from train to train at 33 blocks long, 13 blocks wide, and 12 blocks high. Each car can carry up to four cargo pallets with 60 crates each. That's enough technical jargon for now so here is the Argon Mist 3.
Here's a 360 view of the outside.
I tried to go for a cross between a river boat and a locomotive with the engine.
That's it for the outside view.

EDIT: this is before the refit of The HMS Undaunted.
Salutations my fellow airship captains, I have finally finished my long awaited battleship, the HMS Undaunted. She was built with PVP in mind, although it would take one heck of a server to have two of these in pitched battle. Her armament includes fourteen total TNT cannons, two each on the turrets, and four fixed cannons on each side, a total of 20 dispenser turrets, two of which can swivel at the front. The main turrets have a 55 block effective range, and the fixed guns have a 34 block effective range.
She is a whopping 115 blocks long from stem to stern, 29 blocks at her widest, and 53 blocks tall from the keel to the top of the mast. Her tonnage rings to the tune of 10000+ blocks, pretty sure that my computer can’t handle it flying.
Here are some pics starting with the outside.
The cranes are part of the Icarian shipyards which I am currently building.
Inside the turrets
Here are the fixed cannons. You aim them by placing the TNT on each of the 5 blocks at the front. They also work extremely well as a scatter shot.
Here is the bridge and the mainmast with crow’s nest.
This room is going to be communications. (Still figuring how to lay it out)
Going up the ladder you’ll reach navigation, the bridge and the crow’s nest.
Ladder in the bridge to the crow’s nest
And here is a wonderful view from the crow’s nest.
You can just make out my other ship in the distance
Up close of the stacks
And now for the interior tour, you go through either door in the soon to be communications room to get to the boiler room.
The aft hallway behind the boiler room housing the armory and engineering
Probably going to use the new item frames here
Here are the aft gun emplacements
Engineering, you get to the compressors from here
The “protective gear”
Going down the ladder
One of the supercompressors to run the engines
Here is the gas pump used to empty and fill the tanks of lifting gas
Some of the lifting gas tanks; they pretty much line the entire keel in rows of 4
I have walkways along the tops to get to the bow and stern quickly.
The door the bow section
The lower deck hallway, where all the crew’s quarters are located
All the rooms are the same on both sides except the captain’s cabin.
Here is the officer’s quarters
Down below the crew’s quarters we have general storage
Now to go to the upper deck where we have the forward guns and 2 rotating turrets
The upper hallway
Don’t know what to do with this room
Here is one of the forward turrets
Looking aft we have the forward fixed guns and the mess
The kitchen, much like a dining hall
Here are my fixed guns along the side. (the other one is identical)
Two fixed dispenser guns
And this door goes to the aft hallway.
Well that is all I have to show you guys hope you enjoyed, future ships to come. Feedback is welcome.
I just downloaded and explored your world and I have to say that I am beyond amazed! Your stuff looks both functional and aesthetically pleasing (something I personally have problems achieving).
Was HMS Undaunted built entirely in survival or was some of it done in creative? (I'm assuming that the world is a survival world since you have a mine and such) Either way I look forward to seeing what else you come up with and hopefully seeing some of your stuff in actual pvp fights (once the mod is finally updated)!
I'm back home now, Asikar, and I've got the rundown I promised.
You never fail to disappoint!
1. Inside the turbines (Exterior Engines)
- Looks good as is, but I just feel like there should be "Energy" flowing in it. Maybe light up Redstone not attached to anything? Or maybe Lava in glass cases? IDK, as I said, it still looks good as is.
2. Deck Cannons
- I love the look on the cannons. I was thinking, maybe on your next ship, you could try making one of the cannons bigger. The functional part of it would probably still be the same size, but you could add some "bulk" to it to make it look like an even bigger gun.
3. Crows Nest
- For some reason, I just feel like it should have a balcony/ not have the corners blocked. Maybe something similar to what the bridge has. I tried fiddling with it, but I couldn't come up with a result that I liked, so I guess what you have is good as is.
4. Ladder going down from the bridge
- It seems like you have everthing else symmetrical, so it just seems like a second ladder going down is currently missing.
5. The empty room at the front of the ship.
- I'm not sure what's supposed to be there, but it looks terribly lonely. Maybe try a viewing area (underbelly/front of the hull)?
6. Pump Station/ Ballast Room
- I'll be honest, the room scared me a little at first (it reminded me of the maps from the old N64 Goldeneye). Then I found the engines and fell in love with the wiring work. I've never really tried doing the whole logic repeater thing, but now it seems like a logical necessity for any self-respecting airship builder.
7. Engineering
- It looks cool, but if it was supposed to do something, I couldn't get it to work...
and finally
8. Armory
- I was thinking you could add some decorative work here, like maybe a blacksmith's forge or to make it look like more than storage. There might not be enough room for a decent one, though...
In summary, your work rocks, and I'm looking forward to the completion of your carrier project! I'm starting to fall behind on my projects at the moment (darn you, ADD!), but I'm designing a destroyer at the moment. I need to catch up so I can strut some, too!

First of all, thank you for the feedback, it is much appreciated and will help me improve my designs. The deck cannons are really, as big as I could make them. I had tried a bigger gun on the turrets, but they looked too big to be aesthetically pleasing and functional. For the crow's nest I didn't really like it much either, but it was the only thing that really fit the mast; I'll try fiddling around with it though. I did fix the ladder to the bridge and I added a cargo bay door. As for engineering it does absolutely nothing, just for looks.
In the compressor room/pump station the wiring is really meant to just make noise. Have you tried the levers on the compressors yet? What good is an engine room if it doesn't sound like one? The pump, in a "real" airship would be to drain/fill the tanks of lifting gas to change altitude. As the ship stands she is neutrally buoyant, floating in the air. To gain altitude you just add more gas to the tanks, and you drain them if you want to lose altitude.
The button opens the door and another set on the inside can open and close it.
i use an RS nor latch to keep it closed/open
I also re-did the armory with the new item frames, and I think it looks much better.
Chests with arrows, fire charges, splash potions, and TNT
I'll have the new world download as soon as i fix the crow's nest.
XD Oh, how I love that movie! Now it makes sense, your build.
the sub was already "kind of" steampunk. So I thought, why not an airship? I didn't think that the design you posted was very suitable for combat. I'll probably try it for a transport of scientific vessel though.
Sorry I haven't been on lately, I've been playing on a skyblock survival map, and reading the Hunger cities quartet. Thank you CaptainGloom for turning me on to a fantastic series. Anyway I'm having a bit of builder's block with my carrier. I can't decide what to do with the bridge. I don't want a traditional carrier bridge, and i was thinking about putting the bridge over the runway instead of beside it. Here are some pictures of the completed hull and i would like some feedback on what to do. any suggestions are welcome.
The bit on the side of the deck is one of the supports for the bridge
We are still busy with stuff on our server and it's private for friends, but i can see if i can get a version available soon :3

I should ask what the style of airships you've made, especially the one in the second post, are based on, as I see them around a lot.
here is what I based my second ship on
The website is actually pretty cool.
http://monstersinthesky.com/
As for my other ship, she was based on the Ulysses. The submarine from this movie:
My older ships were made entirely from imagination and a little help from Google images.
'I got soap'
'SSCCCHHHHH!!'
'Back, foul creature! Back to the pits from which you came!'
'Packard!'
'He took his suitcase? Marge, honey, I don't think he's coming back.'
'PACKARD!'
'I'll have to call you back. No, no, I'll call you.'
'Commander. Commander. Commander. Commander. Commander.'
