Every hull section has a corresponding one on the opposite side, these will be joined by a wall and made into 11 separate hangar bays
The big one in the middle is, more or less, the center of the ship and will house one of 3 elevator stations for getting from the hangar bays to the main deck.
also, completely off topic, i found a great example of minecraft render logic.
this was completely natural not built by Steve hands.
Here is what i was thinking for the hangars. something with arching supports made to look like bridges. tell me what you think. also, should i keep the walls or knock them out and have more of the bridge look?

Looks great, but I think you should also make iron supports crossing the width and maybe knock down the center of the wall inside that semi-circle and connect all the hangars.

That's what i was thinking, And the hangars would give an air of openness throughout the whole ship.
Whoa! I gotta say, I really like your ships, and your Icarus project looks very promising.
I wonder how you'll pull it off. I'll follow this thread because you made me very curious, sir.
Thank you for the compliments, it really helps when you post large scale builds and people like them.
I had no idea that my ships would become so popular when i first built the undaunted.
Anyway, I re-worked the hangar supports to be more realistic. Hope these work out better, plus i liked CaptainGloom's suggestion of an open hangar all the way down the ship.

I like it. Maybe put a steel web on the ceiling too? This place is supporting a city if it crashed
You know, you can get Single Player Commands and use World Edit. It comes in mighty handy for copying and pasting monotonous things like roofs or buttresses.

yeah i know, but, for me, it takes away the satisfaction of building something that huge. there has to be some sacrifice.
Put MCEdit on my computer today, got tired of building the same massive thing over and over again. put most of the outer supports on this morning, just need to get the bow and stern supports in. building these in creative would have taken all week. MCEdit is a wonderful tool.
trying to figure out a steering vane for the Icarus, any ideas?
If you mean the rudder, I suggest narrowing a section in the stern, then putting a large-ish rudder. Remember, it doesn't need to be overtly big, it should be as tall as the hull and be less then a hangar in width:
As well as that, I suggest adding a few smaller rudders, seeing as air is quite different from water.

that's what i was thinking as well, maybe something like on the airships in Bioshock infinite...
overall progress: 7%

Surprisingly enough, it only takes half an hour to build the supports for one hangar.
Anyway, here is the progress report.
Hangars: 40% complete
overall progress: 9%
I'm going to put scaffolding, crates, cranes, ect... in each hangar when i get around to putting ships in them

Tell that to Dunwall
Oh, and please read the conversation that should be floating around your inbox
