If any have played the Myst series or read the book series you will instantly know what I have created. Many do not know of this series since the first game came out in 1993 and ended with the sixth game in 2005.
For those that haven't even heard of Myst I will give a quick synopsis of my map:
You and a team of archeologists have been out in the Sahara Desert looking for lost treasures of lost civilizations. You have arrived at a dormant volcano and set up base camp. A scout has already been sent out a day prior to look for any exit vents to the volcano for a possible excursion. The scout came back finding a path downward into the volcano. The team goes out to investigate but what they find will be beyond their wildest dreams.
I will post a downloadable link when I package the map up.
My Goodness, this is amazing!!!! one problem is that the volcano entrance to D'ni is in mexico. If you use zombes mod pack and a texture pack then you can have glowing orange water. Awesome so far, cant wait to see what you add next!
This looks and sounds amazing. I loved the Myst series, and can't wait to play this. I definitely plan to do a Let's Play of this as soon as possible, now that I've got a computer upgrade.
Fun fact: My YouTube name was almost Atrus before I chose Exion.

Actually if you read the books it is based in the Sahara Desert but the game changed it to New Mexico.
I have to say toecutter from the screenshots you've done the series proud. I look forward to downloading, and living there in the months to come.. It'll be a map I keep for a long time that's for sure, and when the myst modders release their mods for 1.3 I'm going to make this my base of operations. Hopefully I'll have enough space for my ages lol.. Shorah!
I know it talks about what type of desert it is in the first 2 books but I haven't taken a look as to where it is. This site breaks it all down though.

I am still in talks with the admin for the server and we tried to copy the map but it crashed the server from the size of it. Hopefully in time we will be able to get this map for download.
It's pretty specific. The Book of Ti'ana talks about traders, people, and places all with Arab-like names. Near the beginning of the book some traders even call on the name of "Allah" to save them when they felt tremors from the D'ni digging the Great Shaft. The game changed it. Anna even considers going back to Europe after her father dies. Not the most air-tight evidence, but all of it together is fairly telling of the location. Especially the people Anna and her father talk to before discovering the Great Shaft. The audiobooks skip over all of this, though.
On topic, this looks quite cool! I love Myst and what you're building looks fantastic!
