A cathedral I made with my friend, Navoliano. Based off some gothic cathedrals around the world
It uses the new height limit, being about 180 blocks high!

How long did it take to build all of that? And how do you plan out all the little details? I'm afraid I'd start on the pillars down below and a couple weeks later I'd get to the top and it wouldn't be lined up properly.

I've never needed graph paper before till this very moment in Minecraft. Glass Dome Project

About two months. We made the whole exterior then started working inside. We made the "walkways" and added the collums, then we worked on details, trying very random and different shapes until we got it right. After making one segment we simply kept using the same pattern so everything got in line. If you want to check it for yourself, visit the server and go to /warp city
This is very lovely, and for anyone wondering how it can be done, there's a myriad of methods from simple measurement taking to graph-paper, all the way up to sophisticated architectural programs which can be quite costly.

For some reason - and I'm not particularly sure why - I'm getting a little bit of an impression of renaissance architecture here and there alongside the gothic.
I really like the tops of the towers, though they do look a little bit like they've been perched on top of the Western facade rather than truly built into it. Probably because of the way that they narrow just at the same height as the pediment on top of the central section.
The interior isn't quite to my taste either, but I can appreciate all the work that's gone into it. There's nothing wrong with it, it's just not really my cup of tea.
It's always nice to see a well-done cathedral on here. People complain that they see too many of them, but I think it's impossible to see too many of such beautiful structures.

Thanks for the feedback =)
While we based off the entire exterior in real-life cathedrals, the inside was built later on with no basis on real designs, so it doesnt end up looking fitting for gothic style
Not been in this forum for ages, forgot how much epic there is down here
Amazing build, I've never known how people (especially just 2 people) manage to plan and execute these huge builds so well. Like Crazy49er said I'd probably get a few days in to find I'd done a massive part of my build off-centre hehe. I love both the statues, great centrepieces for the inside and outside areas.
Epic is definitely the word. Not only is the cathedral itself really well done but I really like the statues both inside and in the courtyard, vary well done.

Just incredible, the interior design is lovely as well as the exterior. Definitely one of the best Cathedrals I have seen!
Thanks =)
And I am still thinking of improving the exterior a little bit more
Thanks =)
