I love the buildings and the atmosphere that surrounds it even more !
I've been wanting to do a mountain dwelling carved out of the inside of a mountain for a long time now and this has inspired me to go ahead and actually do it.
Thanks, I'm glad you like it! A piece of advice: work with the natural features as much as you can. It will stretch your creativity and might limit your options just a tiny bit, but its worth it because it will look less artificial.

This is awesome. Probably one of my favorite builds in a while. I love how you didn't hollow out pieces or try to make the land flat. You built into the side of the ... mountain-thing, and I applaud that. You have talent. This is amazing. If you don't mind me asking, what texture pack are you using? It makes it look so much better :smile.gif:
I have to stop looking before I'm blinded by the awesomeness. I'll go build my puny stuff now...

The texture pack is MixCraft HD. I'm glad you like my use of the landscape. It was the whole idea. And don't sell yourself short by calling your stuff "puny". This began very small, with the stone rooms that are on the one end, and the walkway in front of them, and what is now the entryway to the dining room (which started out as a tavern when this was originally was going to be a village). I had a concept/vision (building into the landscape) and just built a little bit at a time as the ideas came. I had no idea it would become as big as it has when I started, or that I could make something like this. So my advice is just to build and see what happens.
SO. FREAKIN'. AMAZING. Seriously, I couldn't do that if I had tried. BTW, is this legit, or creative?
Thanks so much! This is most definitely Creative. There's no way I could do this if I had to take the time to gather the resources in Survival. If you look closely, most of the ceilings are made of Endstone. That's a definite giveaway that its Creative mode.

It looks good and I can definitely see what you where trying to pull off. Kinda disappointing this isn't Legit. It would certainly be possible, it would just take some time.

Thanks. While it'd be nice to be able to say this is Legit, one concern I would have about doing so is that in order to gather everything I'm used to this point, I'd have to mar the gorgeous landscape that I was making a point to work with in the first place. And with the scarcity of trees in this map, I'd either have to scour far and wide for trees, or else make a tree farm.

I've finished the area I'm proudest of so far. (In case you're curious, what I was proudest of before was the Rec Room :smile.gif:) It's a Patio/Terrace:
The overall view:
The enclosed area of the patio (yes, this still qualifies under an archaic definition of patio):
The open-air patio:
The terrace (complete with music in the corner if you'd like to dance on the terrace):
The Checkered Pond (I'm especially proud of this):
The spiral staircase leading to and from the kitchen:
And finally, the rather scenic walkway next to the stream leading down to the Patio from the rest of the Villa:

That's true, I only see a handful of trees. A tree farm would definitely be a must in this case. I'm curious to see how you improve on what you already have built so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread mode activated lol

Ah Ninja'd some more pictures in when I was typing this :tongue.gif:.
Patio looks great, simple and clean design. I can't say I'm crazy over the checkered lily pad design on the pond. It looks very cluttered.
Thanks, I was very careful with this area. Any recommendations on how to make it less cluttered?
Try going for a natural look, a couple lily pads around the edges and maybe 1 or two in the middle. You can also use bonemeal on the grass around the pond which will spawn flowers and the tall grass you find in most biomes.

I had no idea that bonemeal did that to grass blocks, thanks! And you were right, just a few lily pads looks much more.
Here's what it looks like now:

It's a really beautiful construction, but I must say that the DoF in the photos is really ruining the feel of them. It would be better to turn Amazing Shaders or GLSL or whatever you happen to be using off, in my opinion.

I haven't been using any shaders or mods for this photos or this build. In fact, I don't use any mods at all. Could you clarify what DoF means? I'm not familiar with it.
EDIT: Oh, Depth of Field? Is it that I'm trying to show too much in a single photo and ending up with too wide a shot?
Thanks! More stuff to come that I'm currently working on.
Thanks! Haven't gotten a chance to play in the Aether, but you're right, the features look similar!
