I have been working on a little Viking village for the last few days since I have been home from college. I will continue to post updates as it grows. I wasnt really planning on it being anything worth posting on the forums, but after I finished the long house, I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. Tell me what you all think, I will post the save, as well as my texture pack (which is probably required, or else some things will look strange) if you guys request it. The town is all legit, and the longhouse is like 75% legit... i got tired of cutting trees, and the stuff in the storage room in the kitchen is hacked.
Surprisingly these architectural traditions developed entirely separately, though it should be noted that historically Vikings and Native Americans fought like cats and dogs (though they didn't encounter each other much outside of Vinland as far as I know).
I really love seeing a pre-modern architectural style outside of Minecraft's general fantasy/medieval style, and this is pretty sweet (even if I think you skewed a little modern style with your kitchen, but that's easily overlooked).
I am not entirely sure, but I know Vikings has their great longhouses and mead halls, and the design on the roof is decidedly viking, not Native American.

Thank you for the feedback sir. True the kitchen goes a bit beyond them, but I felt it was prudent to exaggerate the fact that it was a kitchen so people wouldn't be confused.
Added lighthouse, barracks, training grounds, archery range, and a house with a small garden behind it. Also added some details to previous houses. Feedback appreciated.
Native Americans lived in log houses the kind that are a constant dome and covered in bark. The indians that did this are from the New York area. For example the Iriquois. Vikings lived in longhouses and are styled as shown. Same naem but two very different methods.

As time goes on I will expand this settlement and keep posting updates, and maybe start making separate villages as well.
